Today marks the third Juneteenth America has officially celebrated as a federal holiday. The country would be a whole lot better without it.
We already have a black holiday with Martin Luther King Day. We didn’t need another one, especially one that its proponents wanted to weaponize to browbeat America into giving reparations. Juneteenth enshrines the false idea that blacks are the protagonists of American history while whites are its villains.
When this was first made a holiday, I thought it might one day supplant Independence Day in importance. It was a year after George Floyd. America appeared well on the road to establishing Afrolatry as its state religion. DEI was sweeping through schools and businesses. Anti-white racism was being normalized beyond comprehension, with kids’ cartoons even pushing a hate whitey message. The Left was tearing down monuments left and right–even George Washington and Abraham Lincoln weren’t safe from iconoclasm. Our heritage was deemed too white and oppressive. It seemed like the nation was set to adopt a whole new history of itself, one free of the white man.
What better way to formalize this process than to make Juneteenth the new Independence Day? Instead of celebrating dead white men, America would celebrate blacks (who also somehow freed themselves) and dethrone whites from their central place in America history.
But the Left seems to run into a problem. It’s not that normal Americans are in the thrall of a full-on backlash against the meaning of Juneteenth. They just don’t care enough about it to be impacted by it.

They condensed Lincoln’s Birthday and Washington’s birthday into a single “President’s Day” which was absolutely appalling.
So now we have TWO minority holidays honoring so-so people and events and only ONE honoring our great forefathers.
Get rid of BOTH MLK and this idiotic pandering “Juneteenth.” It’s just another lame excuse for more shoot-em-ups.
Americans don’t take any holidays seriously. As for Juneteenth, it’s a good day to watch Blaxploitation movies.
Like July 4, Veterans’ and Memorial Days, current and future generations of government-educated kids will have no clue as to the origin or meaning. They could be Snow Day or Too Hot Day for all they know or care, thanks to public ed.
What makes it disgusting to me is that it falls on the day after my birthday.
Also blue cities, although even those in charge have little clue as to the provenance, context, or significance.
Given the usual incidents, it may as well be Shooters’ Day.

Thanksgiving and the 4th of July don't honor our forefathers?

I haven't seen any evidence that violent crime spikes on either holiday, but if you don't want to celebrate it you're free to treat as just an ordinary day. Personally I'm not complaining about a day off.
I’d be more receptive to Juneteenth if it were more honestly described:
Juneteenth celebrates the day Republican troops freed the last of the Democrat-owned slaves.

I had never heard of it until two or three years ago.
Well, why not 'Pomatix day, when the Civil War ended and slavery officially ended, even if not automatically, universally rescinded?
I think that our brethren and sistern need to promote 13Menment Day, when the former slaves were constitutionally made citizens.
Juneteenth is a paltry start to recognize that black people were once enslaved by the entire country. Some see the
badges of servitude still being propagated by the evil, white devil slave-masters.
When did father Abraham free the slaves in the North?
