They condensed Lincoln’s Birthday and Washington’s birthday into a single “President’s Day” which was absolutely appalling.

So now we have TWO minority holidays honoring so-so people and events and only ONE honoring our great forefathers.

Get rid of BOTH MLK and this idiotic pandering “Juneteenth.” It’s just another lame excuse for more shoot-em-ups.

Thanksgiving and the 4th of July don't honor our forefathers?

I haven't seen any evidence that violent crime spikes on either holiday, but if you don't want to celebrate it you're free to treat as just an ordinary day. Personally I'm not complaining about a day off.

Given these:

Black History Month (Feb)
Women’s History Month (March)
Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month (May)
Pride Month (June)
Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept)
LGBT History Month (Oct)
Native American Heritage Month (Nov)

Why isn’t there a White History Month or a Men’s History Month? Surely whites and men have contributed to this country’s development as much, or more, than some of the groups above.

Actually Congress left Washington’s birthday alone (except for moving the commemoration to a Monday). It was Richard Nixon who started the custom of calling the holiday “Presidents’ Day” (presumably thinking it honored both Washington and Lincoln—but Lincoln’s birthday had never been a federal holiday, only a holiday in some states). Now it is treated as a holiday in honor of all the Presidents.
