An amendment was proposed by Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ), which would have required a warrant for the FBI to conduct surveillance on Americans under FISA. The floor vote resulted in a tie vote of 212-212. Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) then broke the deadlock by casting the tie-breaking vote against the amendment, a move criticized by grassroots supporters.
Johnson betrayed Americans and defied the US Constitution.
Worse yet, less than 24 hours later Mike Johnson posted on X about America’s founding principles — after giving the regime power to spy on any American at will!
The man is either clueless or passive-aggressive as hell.
This did not go over well with Republican voters – especially after his actions on Friday.
Johnson was ratioed on X with 3500+ comments and only 1400 likes. It wasn’t even close.

Ignoring the obvious, I haven’t seen any supposition on why the searches without warrants are so crucial.
Are so they so awful that judges won’t sign off on them?
Do we have corrupted judiciary that would alert the targets?
Beyond the obvious, it makes zero sense to me. Yet I’m to believe Johnson saw some earth changing classified info that makes it so important.
This guy is worse than McCarthy.
McCarthy was just a typical DC Sleaze. He didn’t have any pretentions as a Holy Man or “Constitutional Conservative”.
Authorization for judges and federal law enforcement agents to lie.
This is what a scumbag looks like. Fake Christian to boot.
Hopefully the penitentiary.
Was he standing with Donald Trump when he said this? (Donald Trump let them push him into re-authorizing this very same act, by the way)
Maybe he can run a “Constitution checking app” along with his “porn checking app” so constituents can warn him when he’s violating constitutional principles instead of selling us out.
Edited/CNN.com-——President Donald Trump on Friday expressed support for House Speaker Mike Johnson when asked about GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s motion to oust the Louisiana Republican from his speakership.
Standing next to Johnson at a news conference at Mar-a-Lago, Trump said, “We’re getting along very well with the speaker, and I get along very well with Marjorie. We have a speaker who was voted in, and it was a complicated process. And I think, it’s not, not an easy situation for any speaker.”
Friday’s event at Mar-a-Lago, which sources say was the speaker’s idea, comes as Johnson confronts the most serious challenge to his speakership to date back in Washington as Greene dangles the possibility of forcing a vote to oust him from the top leadership post.
Johnson’s decision to hold an event with the former president provides an opportunity for the speaker to seek political cover as he faces intense pressure from his right flank over a variety of policy issues, including aid to Ukraine, and confronts key decisions over the path ahead.
On Friday, Trump said Johnson is “doing a very good job.”
“And I’m sure that Marjorie understands that, she’s a very good friend of mine. And I know she has a lot of respect for the speaker,” Trump said.
Sources familiar with the matter said Johnson will have another mission in mind during his meeting with Trump:
<><>to feel out the former president on a potential Ukraine aid package –
<><>a politically perilous policy issue that could draw the ire of Trump,
<><>and divide the House GOP and end Johnson’s rookie speakership.
Some of the speaker’s allies have counseled Johnson to keep Trump in the loop with respect to his plans on Ukraine, cognizant that Trump’s backing – or opposition – could make or break the legislation, as well as Johnson’s speakership.
snip....long read
Fisa spies on one, spies on all. What personal spying protection was the speaker given to sell his fellow men. I wonder if Washington would have executed him for an example for the men?
Bye bye “Squeaker” Johnson.
The mouse that roared.
MTG was right, and she needs to bring the removal motion to the floor.
Trump on the legislation: “They put a lot of checks and balances on it and I guess it’s down to two years now, so that it would come due in the early part of my administration on the basis that we live up to the polls, because all the polls – we just had another one come out, we’re leading by a lot, but it comes up quickly. I said, ‘You do what you want.’ But I’m not a big fan of FISA. I think it’s terrible.”
Looks like Johnson is compromised like the rest of them.
Johnson has lost his principles.
He needs to go find them.
Was he one of Epstein’s clients? He was a sleeper. He pushed through Pelosi’s budget and will vote with the Democrats on every important issue.
OK, then FISA needs to work BOTH WAYS.
