That is incredible. Seems like a game changer for that kind of resto work.

Dealing with rust is mostly a male situation, another little oddity of the different worlds of the male and female.

A lot of us males think about rust quite often.

It appears to beat sand blasting. Wonder what the price is of such a unit? What happens if contact is made with a human?

Current dry ice blasters work just fine in car restoration.

Unless it's blue.

I would imagine the laser that can do that needs a beefy power supply.

"Unfortunately, there is a rather large drawback - the cost. These state-of-the-art contraptions ain’t sitting on Machine Mart’s shelves for £50. The cheapest version on the market is a much smaller, less-powerful 20W unit that starts at $80,000 (£62,000). That 1000W specimen from the video would set you back an eye-watering $480,000 (£370,000). So it’s fair to say that laser rust removal is probably out of the reach of most petrolheads trying to restore their project car for next month’s car meet."

Hugely expensive

But for someone who specializes in sand blasting it may be a worthwhile invstment, all epending on the durability of such a unit.
