doesn’t matter which big American city you go to these days, most are in absolutely horrendous condition. The public transportation system stinks of human waste. My old friend Professor Paul Magelli from the University of Illinois told me that when he took the Amtrak from Champaign to Chicago, it smelled like “piss”. Trains in other countries didn’t smell like that.
Richard Florida is a big urbanologist. He is an elite for sure. He tweeted out this article and it is worth reading. The author of the article is aware of what is happening in American cities, but like Richard Florida, totally unaware of what is causing it.
The author cites “regulations”. Richard Florida in his tweet decries the “centralization policies” of big cities.

Chicago didn’t really get better. Rudy did a great job of cleaning up NYC. They have some issues now. But it’s nothing compared to the bad, old days of ‘70s and ‘80s.
when you are on a ship and some of the passengers, 13% or so, are blowing holes in the hull, you all sink.
Trick is to get off before it sinks , since you can’t legally stop them.
Watch from a distance.
Since a certain subgroup won’t leave and yet do nothing but complain and demand money, I’m afraid we might have to either declare independence or leave. This cannot continue forever.
I’ve been all over the world, Mexico, central/South America, Europe, Africa, ME, South Asia…. I’ve noticed one thing, whites and most Asians are generally clean, and browns/blacks maintain filthy environments. FACT.
Blame LBJ and the Great Society Programs for that.
And crime was under control. Blame the woke left for allowing crime to get out of control after '20
Or, as some here have said, they dont live in cities, and don’t plan to visit cities. Maybe the answer for many of us, would be living in small towns and rural areas.
Migration of decent people to small town America could be an economic boost to those places, as so many small towns have declined in recent decades.
I thank God everyday that I am a Kansas farm boy. The nearest ‘city’ to me is 12 miles away and only a 1,000 people live there. No human feces on the sidewalks in Little River, KS
.
My new county is roughly half that percentage, and my zip code is 3.3%. So I’ve got that going for me.
Reno is fast devolving into a cesspool. Abandoned cars and RVs, people living in them as well on streets around the city. Trash everywhere, homeless, mentally ill at the curbs. And go into Walmart, everyone is now speaking Spanish, lots of groups of military age hispanic men. It is a rapid change. Can we undo it?
Rudy was a direct result of the disaster of David Dinkins. After Adams who knows. I thought DeBlasio was the bottom but apparently not.
...and the worst part is, no matter how bad our communities get, they are still better than where these people came from.
Maybe if a Republican mayor is elected.....maybe.
I lived in West Berlin for 3 years in the 1960’s. The general cleanliness, order, spirit and overall sense of the best humanity can offer btings tears to my eyes to this day. I saw the same in Copenhagen, Zurich and other Swiss, Danish, German and Austrian cities. Big American cities are beyond even being compared.
[Floors…..]
I figured it was just some weird U-Bahn gizmo I wasn’t familiar with.
Last time I was in Paris I thought the pilot had made a wrong turn and we landed in Tunisia.
On the train to where the company we were working with was located I saw many neighborhoods easily as bad if not worse than those in Memphis and Birmingham.
Far, far worse than Atlanta.
After many visits across Western Europe, I agree.
