Dec 27 - Gaston Glock, the reclusive engineer and tycoon who developed one of the world's best-selling handguns, died on Wednesday aged 94, Austrian news agency APA said.
The Austrian won loyal followings among police and military across the world with the weapons that bore his name. Forbes estimated his and his family's fortune at $1.1 billion in 2021.
His rise began in the 1980s when the Austrian military was looking for a new, innovative weapon.
Up until then, the Glock company had made military knives and consumer goods including curtain rods. But he assembled a team of firearms experts and came up with the Glock 17, a lightweight semi-automatic gun largely made of plastic.

Rest in peace, sir........................
And cue the braindead leftist gun grabbers grace dancing in 3, 2, 1…
Aw shoot.....
21-Gun Salute!
You know what a Glock is? It’s a porcelain gun made in Germany. It dosen’t show up on airport X-ray machines, and it cost more than you make in a month.
still have my Glock 19 Gen 3...most reliable, safest hand gun in the world. I just KNOW its gonna fire every time.
Hard to find men of that caliber anymore
Hope he went out with a bang
He was probably a pistol
There are those who say that in recent years Gaston stifled innovation and new product lines. And that due to this other manufacturers have gained market share at the cost of Glock.

I got my first Glock knives in about 1983 and my Glock 17 in 1986.
The family may have considered burying Mr.Glock with his gunbelt on, and namesake weapon concealed within.
He can “shoot the Devil in Purgatory!”
He certainly did his part in keeping black crime at bay.

I remember when these came on the market. Schumer screamed that they would be used to hijack aircraft!
You got one made of porcelain? Hang on to it. it's rare. The only ones I know of are made of polymer.
I love my Glock. I have a bunch of pistols and revolvers. The Glock gets the most attention.
He, John Browning, Mikhail Kaloshnikoff, John Garand, Georg Luger, Horace Smith, Daniel Wesson and a host of others ...RIP.
Prayers up, may God bless...
Won't deny their reliability, but was never a fan of their ergonomics and the way the gun sat in the hand. Also had other handguns to shoot so never saw the need to change my grip, and Sig or my 1911 just felt better.
But gotta give credit where credit is due, and that Gaston did indeed stir up the industry and force others to think outside the box. Although, with a tagline such as "Glock Perfection"; there sure are an awful lot of aftermarket mods. To make it "More" perfect I guess.
Samuel Colt........................
I admire that. Staid old school with the tried and true. Just look at all the dreck on the market.
