In a heartwarming and amusing video that recently went viral on Twitter, a man showcased the incredible intelligence and herding instincts of his border collie. The video captures the moment when the man intentionally lets go of the leashes of his two dogs, a border collie and a husky. While the husky continues walking nonchalantly, the border collie impressively gathers the leash, brings it back to its owner, and proceeds to herd the husky back.

Cute. Apparently border collies are genetically wired to herd.
BC’s are THE bestest!
Herding dogs gonna herd, retrievers gonna bring you stuff. Dogs rule.
Ours tries to herd us sometimes.
I had a border collie once. I never gave her one minute of training, but she was a natural. I knew someone who needed to rehome a jack Russell, A breed which is very smart, independent, and stubborn. She brought the dog over, and I put it in my yard with the border collie. At first, they did some posturing and mock fighting, but after a couple of minutes, that border collie began to force the Jack Russell to stay in one spot, by circling him and standing forward over him over and over, til the JR gave up and lay down docilely and stayed put, whereby the BC lay down about 10 feet from him and held sway. The JRs owner could not believe her eyes. I told her I could not take the dog, because I hated to see him cowed so.
Long ago I had a pal who had 2 border collies. When you went over to their house, they would try to herd people into this or that room. It was fairly comical. They are very gentle dogs, they don’t jump up and climb on you, they just barely touch you when they are excited. Some of the YT videos from Scotland of BCs herding sheep are just incredible. One dog will gather up 300 sheep and very quickly guide them through a gate.
We had a dog that was half spaniel and half bc. If we took him to the dog park he would become a police dog and break up fights.
Those are insufferably smart dogs. I would love to have one but would not be able to keep it entertained.
I have a border collie. They are the smartest dog by far. Nothing else is close. Even if another dog is smart, they are not as tuned into their master like a border collie. A border collie wants to please you. They will watch you and try to do whatever you want. Its the difference between a smart student and a kiss-ass smart student.
Just watch out for that yellow snow.
I usually don’t like “pet” videos but this one is great!
We had an old English Sheep dog and he would try to herd us. My sister’s Great Pyrenees was always trying to herd my Beagle. Its pretty funny.
Ours too when we had BCs. One always tried to keep the kids out of the pool and it didn't matter if we were right there.
Today, after 28 years of marriage and 26 of those with dogs, we no longer have any. It's a different life. It's easier in some ways and not so fun in others.
My border collie herds our large ottoman in the middle of the living room. He circles it non-stop. One time we counted 150 circles around the ottoman.
Love them border collies! Have 2, 1 1/2 yo Aussies myself!
Aussie’s are pretty close to the same. We have 2. Very smart and always trying to please you. They always have an eye on us.
i have watched them herding sheep
they are impressive
In the last international dog competition, all finalists were Border Collies.
He succeeded in toppling the ottoman empire :D
