Cats have always been known for their mysterious and independent nature. They can be a source of unconditional love and comfort for their humans, but they also possess a streak of cunning and aloofness. In a recent incident, a homeowner found himself locked out of his house, with the keys safely inside. Little did he know, his feline companions held the power to either let him in or leave him stranded outside.

Cute!
We went hiking. Then I took a shower and a nap. Now I’m going to take a pill for my feet. James and Frank have a camp staff weekend. We found some old uniform for Frank to wear.
When I was just a wee lad we would go soak ourselves in the pool and then try to see if we could stand to lay out on the hot concrete of the driveway. We called it “going to the sun.”
w00t!
I *LIKE* it.
Whatta coupla days! WHEW!
Went and did a raft of paperwork, and spent a raft of money on Tuesday. Then went and rented a truck to move several hefty items of furniture, yesterday. Paying for that exertion a little bit, today, though I’m not feeling it as much as I thought I might.
So now Mom’s out of post-acute care and into her new digs at an Assisted Living facility. Ameliorating the ongoing expense of monthly add-on care is her “carrot” for pushing through in therapy to regain her mobility.
She had taken for granted how good she’d had it being able to get on in an Independent Living situation. DON’T ANY OF YOU DO LIKEWISE.
Without getting into the woulda, coulda, shoulda I’ll exhort you all on just this point:
If you are at all unstable on your feet, got get a cane. Get one with a sword hidden inside, if that’s what it takes for you to submit to the calumny of it all. Or get a walker. Get a candy apple red one, and have a flame job painted on it, if that’s what your ego requires. BE PROACTIVE in securing the future of your own independent mobility.
DO SOMETHING — do ANYTHING — other than doing nothing.
Why?
Because the alternatives TOTALLY SUCK!
Because Firsthand Experience is a pitiless and brutal Instructor.
Because otherwise you invite Reality, with its uniquely painful, staccato style of enunciation, to cruelly enumerate to you all the painful specifics of your own hubris, and Reality NEVER passes up that sort of invitation. NEVER.
Y’all my online frens, and I know some of ya better ‘n others of ya, but I want ALL of ya to live as best ya can.

Hey, y’all! Hope everyone is feeling spiffy.
Quite spiffy. I need to get gas in the van and then take Kathleen to Scouts.
Spiffy and busy, as usual. Safe travels.
How many dragons do you have in your back yard, Dude? ;o]
I have been up and down and back and forth to the office. I cleaned out the fridge, in a manner of speaking, and now have to get IK’s dinner/midnight snack/brekkity ready for him, and then fix my own meal.
BUT! I’m waiting for the delivery from the pharmacy, since they weren’t open when I went to Walmart for grocks this morning. I had specified “between 8:00 and 9:00 AM” but they sent me a text at 0740 saying my order was ready and to let them know when I got there.
It was still before 0800, and the pharmacy doesn’t open until 0900, so I just came home.
Then, after I was done with all my work, I cleaned the fridge for something to do because I was antsy. Now I’m waiting, and I hate that. It’s interfering with my schedule. Funny how we get into these little habits of doing things in a certain order at certain times. I hope she shows up before I head for bed because I really hate the interruption.
I have a cane, and it has been a good thing to have on hand. However, when I really need it, I don’t know I need it until the need has passed.
It has to do with the nerve being pinched in my neck, and it’s unpredictable as all get-out when my balance is going to get wonky.
Oddly enough, I was actually using it in February when I fell into the bookcase, but the ironic thing is, if I hadn’t have been using it, I wouldn’t have fallen.
Still, I keep it handy.
I’ll get gas in the Raisin and take it through the car wash tomorrow or Saturday. Between the pollen and the dust in between the little spits of showers we’ve been having, it looks like an ol’ “whoop-dy.” So yeah, I need to get it looking better.
Tomorrow, we’ll both be looking spiffy!
The Raisin is a motor vehicle and not an air balloon, right?
Yes, Ma’am! My wonderful little get-about. Small enough to be easy to drive and has a gas tank I only have to fill once in two months.
What a sweet little floof!
Good morning. I hope your weather situation for the weekend has changed and that it will be nice for your outing.
It’s 56° and will be 83 today, but Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, the days will be in the lower 70s. Unngh. Still, no rain, so I’m glad.
Rain is still in the forecast for the weekend. I’m supposed to go out to Scout camp tomorrow morning to show the flag in some way as Adult Staff. At least I don’t have to stay in a tent!
