Caddo Parish, Louisiana – It turns out that voting can make a difference even when you are dead. This is especially the case if there is no paper trail ensuring election results are accurate.
Democrat Henry Whitehorn and Republican John Nickelson faced off in a November 18 election to determine who would become the next Caddo Parish sheriff. The final results showed the candidates separated by just a single vote out of more than 43,000 cast and Whitehorn was declared the winner.
Nicholson rightfully requested a recount to respect the “will of the people.”
This extraordinarily narrow margin absolutely requires a hand recount to protect the integrity of our democratic process, and to ensure we respect the will of the people.
Nicholson noted there were multiple irregularities that accounted for the final result, including dead voters being counted and people who voted twice:
We know that at least two voters voted twice, and that the votes of at least five people who were deceased as of Election Day were counted
But as the Associated Press notes, Louisiana law only permits absentee ballots to be tallied again and checked for errors. Absentee ballots are the only auditable paper trail under Louisiana’s current voting system and represented only 17% of the total vote in the runoff race.

It is up to us, the citizen, to demand fair cheat proof elections. It is no one's fault except ours for allowing this.
This is classic democrat voter fraud... wheat’s happening is
THE PEOPLE WHO DON’T SHOW UP TO VOTE ARE ‘VOTED’ BY PRECINCT PEOPLE.
The ‘dead vote’ is a byproduct of this style of fraud - because ‘the dead’ never show up.
This doesn’t pass the giggle test. Ballots not cast in person should not be anonymous. Otherwise, absentee ballots will be used to stuff the ballot box exactly because they are not auditable.
I think I could argue that dead people voting and people voting twice would constitute 'errors'... as an absolute minimum.
I’m voting for Trump in 2024 but I consider US elections to be a bad joke.
In a sheriff’s race no less...Certainly the people in that parish will have great confidence in a chief law enforcement officer who’s first act related to the office was to steal it.
If the Democrat lost by one vote, you can be certain Democrat authorities of all stripes—local, state, and federal—as well as the leftist media would be all over this until the outcome is reversed.
The stupid party unlikely to go to bat the GOP candidate. You won’t hear one peep from Mrs. McRomney about this.

Well said.
Apathy is the Republican’s Achilles heel.
Need more Battle of Athens.
This is for the local sheriff. These local elections....hardly anyone shows up...it’s disgraceful.
I know. I have a friend that lives in Shreveport and the last time I talked to him he said crime has gotten out of hand there. Drive by shootings in the tourists section of downtown, etc! You’d think they’d get out by the masses and vote.
There is also a corollary to this, any measurement for which the error margin is not know cannot be trusted to be accurate.
I vote in Duval County aka Jacksonville, same state different county, we have electronic machines, but also have a paper trail, we vote on paper then put them in the machine, I’m pretty sure it’s the same way across the state.

And as an ELECTED (not hired) law enforcement position, sheriff is an extremely important position. One of True The Vote’s strategies is to work with sheriffs to enforce voting law; as they are elected, sheriffs have skin in the election game. That goes out the window when they’re fraudulently installed.
You hit the nail square on the head... it’s disgraceful how few of We The People get off our butts and vote in local elections. School boards for example... in our last SB election only FOURTEEN PERCENT of eligible voters voted!
Politics & Voting in Shreveport, LA
Controlled by Democrats for whom cheating comes naturally, so it's no real surprise.
Democrat get-out-the-vote drive was successful?
One vote and they declare the aho the winner? Yikes! What are those RATS trying to do? Destroy their “democrazy”?
