Air raid sirens sounded here in Nahariya and also in Haifa where our youngest son is living. We went into our building's air raid shelter. I said my daily measure of Psalms and said the afternoon prayers, then got bored, then sat down. People chatted about the news, infiltrators in Maalot and the air raid on Tiberias. Someone tried to start a song. It didn't get very far. I'm a decent Russian tenor when I want to be, and many in our buildings are Russian speakers, so I sang a Chassidic song in Russian about fearing nobody but G-d. It was appreciated. Son called from Haifa and told me about his air raid siren and refuge in the basement. Finally. Finally finally, the air raid alert ended. No explosions. Now we're back in our apartment.

The alarm said “Hostile aircraft in your area”. I have heard that they had armed infiltrators on hang gliders. Sh!t if only we had good skeet shotguns, that’d end fast.
Prayers for you, FRiend.
God bless! Stay safe!

Stay safe.
Amen. L’chaim.
Thank you for your report! Take care and Be safe!
What are afternoon prayers?
Prayers up for you and your family.
Good to hear from you. With everything going on in Israel I was wondering how you were.
Stay safe.
Orthodox Jews pray three times a day and four times on holidays. There’s morning, afternoon, and evening. So this was the afternoon prayer.
Ah I didn’t know that. I thought it was only muslims that had regular prayer every day.
If only Israel had universal gun ownership there would have been far fewer killed. Why is it so difficult given that nearly everyone has to serve in the IDF?
If you live in Judah and Samaria it’s easier to get a gun license, but you have to have been a citizen for three years. M-16s and Uzis are as common as eyeglasses there. Off-duty reservists, policemen and soldiers with guns are commonplace everywhere. In Gush Etzion there was a cop who was a member of our congregation who always kept a cannon of a revolver in his shoulder strap. My guess is it was a .44 magnum. Kindergarten classes usually have one man with a sidearm present. Tour guides are equipped with M-1s.
I just can’t afford one. They are passing “assault rifles” out to citizen teams in border towns, starting earlier today. But Nahariya is not a border town.
Elu, I am praying for the peace of Israel. Historically, those who war with Israel don’t prosper. Recent history, Germany and Egypt. Dramatic losses!
For-Q, I am a Christian. I formally pray at least once a day, and frequent, short, informal prayers throughout the day.
God bless you all and keep you safe.
Praying for you, your loved ones and Israel!
I’m glad you’re OK. Glad to hear your son is OK as well. Thanks for keeping us posted.
I wish we’d hear from Jewbacca.
I’m praying for all of you.
Thank you for posting this. Praying for your safety and for Israel.
