My senior citizen father has donated to numerous GOP candidates and causes on email solicitation and texting.
Numerous charges are being brought by an organization billed as "Win Red" they send emails that link the option to edit your account or amounts you're donating. However the links lead to dead ends, there is no way to get a password reset to try and delete donations. We have cancelled credit cards, changed debit cards and seemingly nothing is stopping automated donations monthly.
Has anyone had experience with this, has to be, criminal fundraising by the GOP? Because it looks and sounds pretty damn official.
If the bank can't stop the automated donations, close the accounts and go to another bank or credit union.
My brother has a similar thing going on, but not with Win Red.
Close the accounts, pronto.
Change banks and credit cards cancelled..................
If you deleted your credit cards, how are they getting the money?
Change your IP address, if you have Dynamic IP. Record what it is now, unplug and wait 60secs, and replug. Compare the newly-assigned IP to original. Your IP should change and any connection will be severed.
Did your Father give then SS#? Birthday? If so, it’s beyond a simple IP change.
“We have cancelled credit cards, changed debit cards and seemingly nothing is stopping automated donations monthly.”
Say what? That makes no sense at all.
If he’s cancelled his cards, how are they still billing him?
A few months ago I was able to cancel a recurring subscription I had accidentally signed up for through this page:
https://donors.winred.com/en/articles/3767222-cancel-a-recurring-subscription
I love Donald Trump.
But WinRed is a corrupt, evil collection of snot-nosed grifting “consultants” and “operatives”. May they receive their just reward.
Bookmark thanks
They could have it set up as a bank draft. That goes straight to the account.
Bank fraud units run 24/7 Talk to them first - then if you’re brave and lucky call the local FBI and pray you’re not connected to the corrupt liberal elite ones. Theoretically the FBI is suppose to protect all of us and not just powerful ‘elites’. They might be able to help.
In that case, all he has to do is call his bank & cancel that.
I’ve been donating to Trump’s Save America through WinRed since May 2020...
Have not run into that “delete account” problem since I intend to donate to Trump until he retires from politics or I go to ground temperature...
Also if your governor is Republican write him a letter... Companies hate getting complaints passed on from a Governors office. As a last resort contact your local newspaper.
Your bank should be able to cancel the accounts. Have you talked with them?
I get emails from Win Red all the time. I have flagged these emails as "straight to trash" emails.
Tip: Never donate to scams like this. Donate directly to the candidate of your choice. I have been doing this for some time and it has never been a hassle.
I found this on Wiki.
“ Following the 2020 campaign, several Trump donors said they were unknowingly billed for recurring contributions to his campaign, with some having as much as several thousand dollars deducted without their knowledge. Some experts attributed this, at least in part, to how WinRed’s platform was set up. They utilized prefilled checkboxes that donors needed to manually uncheck to prevent repeat donations. In addition, unlike ActBlue, WinRed keeps a cut of refunded contributions.[14] After the release of that reporting, the National Republican Congressional Committee continued to use the same tactic in their fundraising on WinRed”
Check with your state Atty General.
Took cancellation of my credit card to stop the incessant 25, 25, 25, 25……after what was meant to be a single transaction to a single young black female republican candidate in another state.
WinRed was absolutely useless and deceptive. No , i did not sign up for a subscription and, no, i went back to the same website/page, and nowhere did it say anything about the tied you up forever payments.
Yes I had a problem with WinRed during the run up to 2020. They are very devious in making the donation process complicated.
While making what I thought was a one time donation, somehow I hit a button that would take out recurring monthly payments. As soon as I saw that first recurring payment on my credit card I sent out a stern emailed telling them to cease the donations and to credit the one they already had. They did do both but it left a bad taste in my mouth.
