A Pennsylvania mother was mauled to death by two of her neighbor's dogs she had gone over to feed while the dog's owner was away, according to authorities. Perry County authorities said the 38-year-old woman, Kristin Potter, tragically died Thursday evening after she was attacked by her neighbor's two Great Danes in New Bloomfield, the county seat of Perry County, Pennsylvania.

Danes? Very strange. They are normally gentle giants.
I know dogs that would lick you to death if you fed them.
Mediocre at best, but not great Danes.
“Unfortunately, police officers weren’t able to reach the victim until the arrival of animal control personnel, who swiftly tranquilized the canines.”
Hmmmm....the implications are unclear but possibly very disturbing.
They certainly wouldn't hesitate to shoot a dog if they were FBI, CIA or Federal Marshals.
Very sad story. Now, a young mother is gone, and one of her children witnessed the attack.
Where I grew up, dogs sometimes attacked people or killed their smaller pets. That’s why I’ve always hated dogs (except the little cute ones).
“Danes? Very strange. They are normally gentle giants.”
#12 on most attacks on humans.
I wonder if the victim was used to handling these dogs. I have a very large breed dog. His size and bark are intimidating. But he will be very affectionate as long as you are confident and comfortable around him. If you show fear and are timid he will be all over you, not necessarily in a mean way, but if you overreact his behavior will escalate. I’m very careful with him when people are around. He’s only 9 months old and he’s still being socialized.
The police shoot dogs when they go on drug busts. I don’t understand why they couldn’t shoot these dogs, unless they were afraid to get too close.
The victim had fed these dogs in the past with no issues. While pit bulls kill the most people in the US, I think most breeds are capable of it, especially if there are two or more dogs. About 15 years ago in my town, two chocolate labs chased down a woman jogger and were attacking her. Fortunately a utility company truck was driving by and the driver was able to scare the dogs away. All of the chocolate labs I’ve known have been sweeties. My son and DIL had one. The dog was great - I loved him. But I would never leave him alone in a room with my infant granddaughter. That dog could be ferocious with his squeak toys and would attack and shake the toys violently. I didn’t trust the dog to be able to discern the difference between a squeaking toy and a squeaking baby.
“Socialization” occurs in the seventh week of their life, and only really takes if they remain with the litter during that period. It’s about developing as a dog, not as a human. Puppy mill dogs are often turned out at five weeks. They are discipline nightmares, and often dangerous, especially if powerful and left “intact.”
Irish wolfhounds are gentle giants but great Danes can be unpredictable and some are simply aggressive.
Ping.
I was bit on the shoulder by a great dane when I was delivering papers some 50 years ago as a young paper boy. It wasn't a vicious attack, but still an attack.
“Sounds like cops afraid to do their job.”
Well, maybe they just didn’t want to shoot the woman who the dogs were on top of.
Is this what happens when cops become WOKE.? They become totally afraid to use their firearms defend you, or even themselves, from vicious dogs.?? What the hell good are they?? :(
