President Donald Trump eviscerated Governor Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., in his ongoing battle against Disney and its Magic Kingdom in Orlando.
“Ron DeSanctimonious totally caved in his public relations inspired battle with Disney,” Trump wrote on Truth Social on Sunday. “That’s the only reason he went after them in the first place, to show Mr. Tough Guy. Disney maintained complete exemption from property & sales tax, tax-free bonds, and their incredible fast track permitting.”
As reported by RSBN, Gov. DeSantis recently signed legislation in February (HB 9B) that ended Walt Disney World’s self-governing status by terminating the corporate kingdom’s special privileges in Florida.
This move came after a months-long skirmish with Disney following their public criticism of DeSantis’s falsely labeled “Don’t Say Gay” bill, which simply prohibited sexual instruction in the classroom for children up to third grade.
DeSantis’s newest legislation purportedly ended Disney’s control over the Reedy Creek Improvement District, as well as their exemptions from state regulatory reviews and approvals, via RSBN.
However, President Trump has hit back at this “public relations inspired battle with Disney,” accusing DeSantis of playing games with Floridians and Americans at large.
“They [Disney] also gave big political contributions to DeSanctus,” Trump continued. “The whole thing is a Hoax – They probably worked together to make him look like a fighter. Read Rick Foglesong, preeminent authority on Disney.”
Trump is not the only one to criticize DeSantis’s war with Disney and claim that it may be shallower than it appears. In his statement, Trump directed supporters to read Rick Foglesong, whom he called a “preeminent authority on Disney.” Foglesong recently published an opinion piece in the Orlando Sentinel that took a hammer to DeSantis’s “war” with Disney.
In it, Foglesong claimed that Disney has maintained its exemption from property and sales tax and still enjoys fast-track permitting privileges. Per RSBN, HB 9B replaced the Reedy Creek Improvement District with a state-run board that would strip Disney of its control over the special tax district.
According to Foglesong, DeSantis’s politicized war with the House of Mouse has been skin-deep. He noted that when Orange County implemented a law-enforcement tax for property owners in unincorporated parts of their county, Disney was exempted from it.
Foglesong wrote:
“Was this abuse corrected by DeSantis and the Legislature? No, a ‘new sheriff’ may have come to town in the form of a new board of supervisors, as DeSantis called it, but the powers and prerogatives of the board essentially remained the same.
And what of the $1 billion in bonded debt they inherited? Beforehand, Reedy Creek borrowed a lot because they could borrow so cheaply, claiming the district contained a city with real residents and therefore able to issue tax-free municipal bonds. Tax-free as in subsidized by the federal government aka federal taxpayers.”
Newsweek also reported in 2022 that between 2019 and 2021, Disney Worldwide Services donated over $100,000 to the Friends of Ron DeSantis PAC, per the Florida State Department’s campaign finance database.
As much as I admire DeSantis, you can already see him being compromised by the usual suspects he is talking with to back a potential presidential campaign. Heck, even Jim Jordan has been neutered by contributions from the likes of Google. We don’t need more “controlled opposition”; we need a Mack truck who will run right over those who need to be run over, whether tyrannical dems or compromised Republicans.
Our country is in dire straits and going over a cliff from which we will never recover. This is not the time to worry about whose feelings are being hurt, and it’s not the time for half measures in the attempt to save it.
Vogel is ‘bird’ in German. “Song” is Lied.
“Will Donald stop acting like a 2 year old?”
Certainly needs to, but probably won’t. The problem, though, are many of his supporters, including some here (but not me), simply won’t vote in November unless Trump is on the ticket - they’re also acting like 2 year olds.
It's like those Germans have a different word for everything.
Then you should be cheering him on.
Ask yourself if blocking tranny training for 10 year olds and approving them for eleven year olds is really a victory. Like all legislation the description rarely describes the legislation it just reveals the deception if one cares to find it.
Unless De Santis believes Trump is really bad for the country and he would be better he really needs to make his position clear instead of clouding the waters to give the MSM reason to gin up an argument which boosts their earnings. With out major stories to bring out contrasts they won't get their part of the billions that are now spent on campaigns.
I like Donald, but he doesn’t need to keep attacking the best governor in our nation. Pretty stupid. I hope DeSanMan stays above it all.
I believe he had sixteen of those allies trashing him in the 2016 primary.
I have been a faithful Trumper from the git-go...and this dismays me no end....and more so because all his speeches are like this...aimless, rambling and almost incoherent.
He needs a capable speech writer AND COACH.

I sometimes wonder if a large percentage of Freepers are paid for by Tax Dollars
The whole reason for Disney being given those things in the first place is because FL was behind the times, not up to par in certain areas of expertise for what Disney was doing.
I give you Spaceship Earth, built in 1982
It left FL quite clueless as to how or if this and the many other things Disney was doing could be permitted so for liability purposes, they said; Here, we'll give you full regulatory rights but also full liability over it. Have a city but sign this waiver first. It's you're baby now.
“people who are for DeSantis can’t just be for DeSantis without trashing Trump”
From what I see on free republic its the other way around

I have to depend on FR to experience rabid Trump supporters now that all the ones I personally hung out with have moved on from him.
Even worse, Disney destroyed the great local Pirate World and thus took down the legendary Ice Cream Bunny!
Well, now we all know what fear and desperation look like.
I think your caps lock is sticking.
….unless you’re Cher. Then it’s ok.
“Trump is scared. He is showing weakness.”

Yes, and Trump has become boring.
I will never go to another one of his rallies.
Listening to him has become tedious.
I didn’t see any of this in the bill
My entire lifetime, I’ve watched politicians sell themselves to the public as one thing, only later revealing that they were not who they said they were. We would all get excited about what the latest golden boy would promise and convince ourselves that, if we could only get him elected, things would be different.
In the past 12 years or so, I’ve seen Trey Gowdy, Ted Cruz, Chris Christy, Jim DeMint, Marco Rubio, Bobby Jindal, and even Paul Ryan, play that part. And initially, they all sounded good. They said the right things. Some of them even governed reasonably well on the state level. And when the time came for them to step up and truly lead on the issues that really mattered most, they all failed us. We were fooled. And why were we fooled? Because we believed that someone elected to higher office could truly be independent and act on his own. We believed he was guided soley, by conscience and by what he believed was right. We ignored the now obvious truth, that no one who rises to the level of national office does so without relying on other people’s money - lots of it.
It amazes me that some here, still haven’t learned that lesson and think that DeSantis is different; that he’s immune to these forces and makes his decisions entirely on personal conviction, with no consideration to what the puppet masters want. The strings of the puppet masters are the donations they give to politicians like DeSantis, and those strings ultimately determine his policy choices. To believe that this wasn’t always the case with DeSantis, is extremely naive. The money doesn’t just start coming in once you’ve achieved success as a governor. The money is what allowed DeSantis to attain the governorship in the first place. The influence has always been there.
Trump is the truly unique exception to this rule, which is why the powers that be, have tried to move heaven and earth to thwart him. To focus only on what he wasn’t able to achieve in a first term and ignore all that he WAS able to accomplish - and in the face of unprecedented resistance, is to be oblivious to the historic battle our country is now witnessing - a battle to free our government from the clutches of the long established money powers that have controlled it for decades, if not longer. Trump’s agenda goes to the heart of the deep state’s control of our country. DeSantis isn’t even playing the same game as Trump.
Well, I’m sure President Trump is lying, right?
