Baltimore: 23 Schools Have Zero Students Who Can Do Math at Grade Level

Democrats are constantly telling us how great public schools are and how much we must value school teachers. So what happens when a Democrat-controlled city has almost two dozen schools with zero students performing at grade level?

FOX 45 News in Baltimore reports:

23 Baltimore schools have zero students proficient in math, per state test results

Baltimore City is facing a devastating reality as the latest round of state test scores are released.

Project Baltimore analyzed the results and found a shocking number of Baltimore City schools where not a single student is doing math at grade level.

“We’re not living up to our potential,” said Jovani Patterson, a Baltimore resident who made headlines in January 2022, when he filed a lawsuit against Baltimore City Schools. The suit claims the district is failing to educate students and, in the process, misusing taxpayer funds.

Because the KKK would lynch them if they didn’t. Blacks will never forget those lessons.

I’ll never understand why majority of blacks vote Dim.

Let’s count, A, B, C, D, E on one hand. So, yeah, let’s vote D..

As logical as anything a stupid person would do. You would think that the choice would be Left (L) or Right (R), but we don’t know that yet. We be stuck at kindergarten day care level.

And EBT card don’t need math or make change. Want some fries with dat?

I certainly don’t know what the state standards for math proficiency are, but if the standards have been lowered, that makes it even worse.

Teachers have no control whatsoever upon the performance of the students. When the students don't want to be educated and their parents take their side, there is absolutely nothing even the very best teacher can do about it.

I think it makes more sense to drop compulsory education and then apply the money and effort only toward those who want to learn. Our society will collapse soon. It would be best to save the willing.

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL

This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)

The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.

Like the RATS would say, “They don’t need to know how to do math. That’s why their parents bought them cell phones.”

I taught for decades in urban high schools (see my post #29). And you are right about the Education degree. Most of the better teachers I knew had real degrees (in math, in chemistry, etc.).

But there is a much bigger problem with Education degrees. It’s the Doctorate in Education. Almost all school administrators have them now. And that degree is worthless trash. No, it’s worse than that. It’s counterproductive worthless trash.

Permit me to explain. Every other academic discipline has an accepted, core body of knowledge. For example, in chemistry every chemist agrees that the hydrogen atom has one proton.

This is not so in education. Anything goes in that field! So public schools are whipsawed back and forth by the latest fads, all based on a paper some EdD read in some garbage education journal. And here’s the thing. Today’s fad well could be contradicted by tomorrow’s fad.

And by golly, when that new fad comes along, teachers had better immediately embrace it, no matter how nonsensical it is.

Let me give you an example of that. At the end of my career I taught physics. A new fad came along: Do not correct any wrong student classroom answers on the day they are given. All answers are valid, even completely wrong ones. That’s nuts, and I ignored it. Lucky I wasn’t fired before I could retire.

Sorry for the long rant.

But they can do New Math, where you think about math concepts.

Math is racist. Testing for it is white supremacy. Who needs math anyways when there’s diversity, equity and inclusion? At least they can have the satisfaction of knowing they’re attending public schools that are 100% unionized. Who could ask for more?

This lack of education is devastating to black children and until/unless they come to grips with it, blacks will continue to underperform. But instead of teaching math, they teach hate.

My daughters knew the alphabet by the time they started 1st grade. Why?
My wife was a stay-at-home mom until they started school, and she would work with them. She would read to them during the day, and I would at night.
We did math, too, so they had a head start by the time each of them began 1st grade.

It doesn’t matter what color or ethnicity we are, our brains are the SAME, and one brain needs the food of knowledge as well as the next, regardless of what the outer package looks like.

All the teachers unions care about is lining their own pockets. When they go on strike, they do it for more money, but at the same time, they proclaim that it’s
“FOR THE CHILDREN”.

Nothing ever changes.

It’s the fault of the schools, teachers and teacher’s unions. NOT ONE in that many schools isn’t the fault of the kids...

I believe that most teachers try to double a good job, but like you say, they have limitations imposed on them from above. My wife was a paraprofessional for over 20 years, and she watched the downward slide happen right in front of her.
The reasons for it were many, but like you say, the school district on the one hand, and the lack of competent parenting on the other.

The very people who are supposed to be nourishing these kids are hurting them.
I could go on and on, but you know better than me…

I’ve heard it is because black people were grateful to President Johnson for the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act.

But even if you have gratitude for a Democratic president who signed the legislation giving you the right to vote, it doesn’t stand that you have to vote for that President’s political party in perpetuity.
