In this post and its links, you can see footage of a man being punched by a police officer on the steps of Victoria's State Parliament until the man subdued the police officer with a headlock.
Then another police officer comes in and assaults angry protestors with pepper spray.
I believe that the violence was initiated by police.
I think the primary problem here is corrupt leadership in both government and the police force and inexperience and lack of emotional control at times by a few protestors and a few police.
But losing control in protesting is a right which it is a police duty to protect while at the same time making certain the protestors do not hurt others in genuinely criminal ways.
These police must be non criminal professionals.
The protestors in a free society must be free to be the full range of things that human beings can be.
In the nanny state of Victoria police crimes against protestors are out of control and the police officers involved are never held to account.
“Victoria is about to have a civil war?”
Most of the people are too much like sheep for that to happen soon, but if police state crap isnt brought under control be existing checks and balances, then an underground opposition may develop.
“And ... that is why the founding fathers enshrined the 2nd amendment.”
.... in America,
Australia desperately needs a Bill Of Rights but thats much easier to do closer to ‘the foundation of a nation than over a hundred years after the constitution was written.
Organized vigilante action may be a remote possibility, but I would imagine that you have plenty of fed-up individuals.
Nothing that happens in Victoria surprises me anymore. Used to be that a large portion of Victoria were staunch Catholics or Greek Orthodox. Sad
