Biden's Next Crisis: Home Heating Oil Rationing Begins in Northeast, and It's Not Even Winter Yet
PJ Media ^ | October 23, 2022 | Ryan Ledecker

It looks like President Joe Biden might get his winter of death after all, and it’s not because of the unvaccinated.

If you live in the Northeast, you know that even in normal times, heating oil bills constitute a significant expense because winters are usually brutal. Unfortunately, this year could be the worst year ever for residents of the region hoping to adequately heat their homes. Not only are heating oil prices through the roof on anti-fossil fuel President Joe Biden’s watch, but even for those who have the funds to stock up, it doesn’t really matter: heating oil rationing is already taking place.

The USA is currently exporting 6 million b/d of refined petroleum products.

Of that, 1.04 million b/d is diesel and 113,000 b/d is fuel oil.

It’s too bad the election isn’t in January. The cost then after the holiday will likely be horrendous, even to the reflexively moronic who vote D

Biden does what he does without the least concern for the welfare of Americans. If a million people froze this winter, his only concern would be finding a way to blame the Republicans or Donald Trump. That is the totality of his concern.

Central Connecticut - we supplement our oil heat with a small wood stove and two+ cords of wood.

Just topped off our oil tank for $784, bought wife a couple of heavy sweaters....

I've got a closet full of LL Bean wool and cashmere sweaters and I've been adding at least two every year. I have enough of them to wear a different one every day for about a month. I wear them roughly from October to April.

They are expensive but last for many years and keep you very warm around the house so you don't have to jack up the heat.

Do your research of exports and you will find the big jump in 2010.

That year is when diesel went from $0.30 greater than gasoline to $1.50 then later $2-3.00 more per retail gallon.

Heh...good thinkin. I’ve been low-key collecting blankets and sleeping bags.

Once I heard OPEC was going limit production I immediately ordered oil...good thing too, because instead of being in the $900-range I woulda ended up in the $1600 range now. I’m hoping to use mostly wood, but I’d like to be around 4 cords and I’m only halfway there.

Democrats ask Biden for another strategic oil release, this time to heat homes in New England

House Democrats from New England say Russia’s war against Ukraine and the COVID-19 pandemic have created a disruption in global energy markets that warrants the release of supplies from the Northeast Home Heating Oil Reserve (NEHHOR).

That reserve holds about 1 million barrels of home heating oil, and President Biden has the authority to release that supply under certain circumstances. Democrats led by Rep. Lori Trahan, of Massachusetts, say Russia’s war in Ukraine and the pandemic are reason enough to release some oil and help reduce home heating prices for New Englanders as winter approaches.

Under federal law, Biden has the authority to release NEHHOR supplies if there is a dislocation in the heating oil market that results in certain price changes, or if there is a regional supply shortage that could be addressed by injecting new supply.

Democrats did not argue that prices are rising, and instead told Biden that home heating oil supplies in the Northeast are 63% below their five-year average.
