Met here under a motel awning in a Pasadena Texas one rainy evening. I was waiting on a cab to take me to dinner and she walked up and stood right beside me. I’m not one to “bother” celebs so I just kept looking for my cab. Then this little voice said, “hey, ain’t ya gonna say hello?” She knew I was trying not to bother her. I said “hello” and we had a little conversation. Her limo pulled up and I said “well here’s my ride” and she said, “don’t think so, yours is behind this one!” She was performing at Gilly’s at the time. What a thrill to actually meet the little lady.

Weird as "There He Goes" (a Patsy Cline cover) came up on my shuffle this morning on the way to work. Turns out it was Sissy Spacek's version of that and was from soundtrack of "Coal Miner's Daughter" in which Spacek was portraying Loretta Lynn.
I remember that being a pretty decent movie that came out about 40 or so years ago. I think Spacek got best actress or some such award out of that film.

Thank you for sharing that very nice story. Even though I grew up a few miles from Butcher Holler I regret that I never met Loretta.

Loretta Lynn and Tammy Wynette lived each other’s songs.
Loretta made a career out of jilted woman “Leaving You” songs yet stayed married to a life-long filanderer until his passing after 48 years of wedded bliss.
Tammy’s biggest hit was “Stand By Your Man” but she had five husbands, two of whom she divorced and two of whom she got annulments from.

Some pretty classy women come out of those Appalachian hollers. Must be the Scotch Irish.😀

And what I remember about that movie is that Sissy did her own singing. It was not dubbed or lip-synched or anything.

She did an album with Conway Twitty. I love their version of “It’s Only Make Believe” and I play it on the jukebox at the local bar.
