Chickens are self replicating. A hen lays approximately 5 eggs per week. Therefore, the communists who control Cuba would have to be especially incompetent to create a shortage of chickens.

This CNN video is from 2019. It was filmed in Cuba. It shows a large number of people waiting in line, for many hours, all based on the hope that there might, maybe, possibly be one chicken available for them when they finally get to the front of the line. Maybe they’ll get a chicken that day. Maybe not.

Even if they do manage to get a chicken after waiting in line for many hours, the opportunity cost of waiting in line for such a long amount of time is enormous. Imagine all of the things that all of those people could be doing with all of that time if they were living in a country that wasn’t Cuba.

Chickens are self replicating. A hen lays approximately 5 eggs per week.

Therefore, the communists who control Cuba would have to be especially incompetent to create a shortage of chickens.

Chickens need grain, which like everything is probably scarce in Cuba.

We have people in our government here in the U.S. who could easily create a shortage of chickens. Wondering why the Cuban gov’t. doesn’t try to hire them? I doubt they would be particularly loyal to the U.S. as they have already shown that evidence of duplicity.

Well yeah - they’re incompetent for sure but 2 provisos -

1. There’s been a wide spread bird flu (another biowarfare strike?) that have decimated the chicken farms even in the US.
2. If Cuba has been supplying other communist nations in the area (Venezuela, Russia?) it could deplete their stocks to their populace.

Layers don’t necessarily produce 5 fertile eggs per week, in normal egg coops.

Maybe the Cubans forgot the whole rooster aspect of fertile eggs.

Also, they may have good chick hatcheries but high death rates.

Or lousy feed.

Or lousy water/sanitation.

There’s lots of reasons that add up to poor yields.

Communists are used to ruling everything and orchestrating all behavior among the underlings.

The Commie bosses could order the remaining hens to lay more eggs. Problem solved.

The Eva Gabor character on Green Acres used to politely ask the hen to lay another egg and she got what she wanted. But that was in the USA.

In 1978, China started a limited and simple reform for farmers (who then were all on collective farms) - whatever you grew in excess of the local quota, you could sell yourselves.

Farmers immediately responded and local markets and distribution quickly developed. Chronic shortages of things like eggs, vegetables, meat, etc... disappeared.

The Wokesters aren’t the only ones who’ve forgot Biology 101.

You only need hens to make eggs but if you want chicks you also need roosters.

Can you define a hen? If so, you are probably a biologist.
But just so you know, some roosters and non-binary chickens are capable of laying eggs.

Incompetence is standard operating procedure for communists.

If you put the government in charge of the Sahara Desert, you’d have a sand shortage in about 2 years.

Amazing how the farmers were able to cure the shortages. Oh wait, they used evil capitalism to fix things. Must let AOC know.
