As we reported previously three people were killed and two others injured after a shooter opened fire in the food court of a Greenwood, Indiana, shopping mall Sunday evening, police say.
Around 6:00 p.m. local time, multiple people called 911 to report an active shooter at the Greenwood Park Mall, Greenwood Police Department Chief Jim Ison told reporters.
During a media briefing Sunday, police said the shooter was armed with a rifle and several magazines of ammunition. The type was weapon was not described beyond being a long gun.
“It appears that he had a rifle with several magazines of ammunition, entered the food court and began shooting,” Ison said.
Ison said that the shooter was killed by another person at the mall who was armed. Ison said the “good Samaritan” was a 22-year-old man from Bartholomew County.

Fortunately, Eli was carrying a concealed hand gun.
More lives would have been lost if it wasn’t for Eli’s heroics.
But I didn't know how great was his shoot until now!!!
Incredible accuracy. Providence. This is why we need the Second Amendment!
I’m gonna be running the Dickens drill for sure.
Optical device on the Dickens gun?
Or just plain vanilla factory sights?
Would like to see all details on his kit, including ammo used, etc.
graduate of Kyle Rittenhouse Shooting Academy?
The staged photo from Dickens POV, the tiny red dot in the center is the location of the perp.
Over on patriots.win the discussion degenerated quickly; hopefully not here. I still haven’t firmly ascertained the model. Most say 9mm Glock but which one? (Let’s just say the top GSSF people aren’t using their 43s to win Meister). Others suggest a Hellcat. Is it actually known to the public?
Turning it into a drill seems challenging since Eli was reportedly advancing, and most ranges frown on shooters moving into the target area :)
Range time works. Nice shooting Eli. Report said perp received 8 shots?
He musta ran up to him after the first hit and finished him off. How many bullets?
Well planned!
Up against the wall so if he misses, it won’t hit anyone else.
“Plan your shot, shoot your plan”
Target fixation, tunnel vision, and very young eyes.
Well done.
Article says 8 shots.

I remember hearing that at any given time even an experience firearm shooter can expect to lose 50% or more of their accuracy when the Adrenalin kicks in during an active shooter situation.
That makes these shots even more impressive. Dickens is one cool cat.
It takes guts to even attempt a shot like that in a crowded mall.
I don’t think there are sloid walls in a mall. 9mm will go right through a wall and blow a poor feller’s lung out.
Shooting like that takes courage and confidence. Very impressive.
God was involved in taking out the devil’s disciple.
I read Dickson fired 10 times...8 of 10 were hits.
There was a time not that long ago longer distance pistol shooting was part of firearms training.
In the past few decades shorter ranges were pushed by people.
Who can’t don’t want to spend the time, nor the money to become good enough at the longer ranges.
The 3 yard 3 shot 3second idea does not come close to handling all situations.
It is used by many as a excuse not to train for more.
Not on my best day with my glasses on. Not at that distance with that piece. Maybe 30 years ago. Maybe. Great shot.
