The Pentagon Announces It Will Refuse to Follow Any State Laws Restricting Abortion Access

The Pentagon has made the announcement that it will refuse to recognize any abortion laws springing from the Supreme Court’s decision that there is no guaranteed right to abortion in the U.S. Constitution.

Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III issued a statement on on Friday regarding the Supreme Court’s ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization.

“Nothing is more important to me or to this Department than the health and well-being of our Service members, the civilian workforce and DOD families,” the Pentagon chief announced. “I am committed to taking care of our people and ensuring the readiness and resilience of our Force. The Department is examining this decision closely and evaluating our policies to ensure we continue to provide seamless access to reproductive health care as permitted by federal law.”

Politico reported that the Department of Defense does not yet have “any policy to announce for accommodating female service members stationed in states that have outlawed abortion,” officials tell NatSec Daily.

“Female troops seeking the procedure already face steep hurdles to getting the care they need: They cannot get abortions at military medical facilities, and federal law also prevents troops from using their Tricare health insurance to cover the cost of the procedures at private facilities, unless the life of the mother is at risk due to the Hyde Amendment,” Politico added.

“The biggest challenge currently is the lack of complete freedom to travel when you want to travel without having to get permission from a supervisor,” former Air Force JAG officer and Southwestern law professor Rachel Vanlandingham said. “Now, women serving here stateside are going to be subject to the whims [of the states] that they are involuntarily assigned to.”

It is not lost on Americans, however, that the same Pentagon that summarily discharged servicemembers for failing to comply with a Covid-19 vaccine mandate has announced it will ignore state laws and suddenly respect the bodily autonomy of female servicemembers.

Sounds like civil war to me.

Next thing is the population explosion in the south. If our vote is ignored then, then it’s sure. In 10 years the south will be full of the next generation of 10 yearolds.

This is great news, actually. Our country will resemble Korea with the northern states utterly miserable and the southern states getting access to freedoms and opportunity.

I can’t wait. This abortion ruling is the best thing to happen in my life time. For the first time since I’ve been alive I live in an area founded by God and not killing babies in utero.

I can even start to see why is best that the scotus did this instead of a flat out ban across the nation. It basically forms the army of Christ to fight evil instead of allowing evil to continue mingling among us.

Why not??!!

If you want a sex change operation, join the military as well!!!

You enlist, declare you are transgender and need surgery. Instead of bootcamp, you go to therapy and start hormone treatments, have the surgery, recuperate and your minimum required time in the military that you need to put in to have the surgery paid for is up, and you leave the service with benefits.

Your entire enlistment time is spent transitioning on the taxpayer’s dollars and you don’t even need to train, serve or go to war!!!!

How are they going to fit in abortions when they’re celebrating pride month and teaching critical race theory? I mean when will the soldiers and sailors have time for drag queen story hour?!

Easy fix, don’t put female troops that want abortions in states that don’t allow abortion. See how easy that was?

The various states can prohibit delivery of ANYTHING to ANY military base refusing to obey their state laws.

The military is declaring itself immune from state laws. We will see how local sheriff and police departments react to that.

We have to acknowledge the U.S. military has now become the ENEMY of our constitution, NOT ITS PROTECTOR.

Where are these illegal abortions going to be conducted? On military bases? Will military doctors be under “orders” to murder the unborn? Military officers cannot issue an “unlawful order.”

These are Nuremberg Trial level crimes against humanity. “Just following orders” did not work then. The miscreants were hanged for their barbarism.

Will female members of the military be given free passage for abortions whenever they desire it regardless of their pressing, assigned duties to help defend the country?

"The military is declaring itself immune from state laws."

It didn't declare anything. Don't fall for stupid headlines.

What happens on base stays on base, but if a woman breaks the law outside the gates she is subject to state law. The feds may not charge her, but the state can and will.

Bears repeating, over and over again.

Do military docs have to be licensed? Of course. Who does that - the states.

Military physicians only need a state license, any state, not necessarily the state where they are currently stationed.

Hey, give Lloyd J. Austin III a break. Dude has made the US military totally ineffective at killing America’s enemies so he has to make up the slack somewhere

"Yes and no. There are plenty of situations covered by state law, not federal."

Yes I know. And all of those rules are ultimately established by federal law at some point. What matters here is, the DoD saying it will continue to operate according to federal law is a statement that says nothing.

Pentagon, like Disney, willingly got into politics.

Officers who played politics under Obama era got promoted. Patriotic officers saw the door. So this is where we are under Biden administration.

Cut their budget by 20%

Ike got it right. Beware of the military industrial complex. Reduce our military by 50%. Army and Marines should be mostly reserves.

Also overheard in the next conversation with a private ...

Austin: “I am committed to taking care of our people and ensuring the readiness and resilience of our Force.

Sometime in the near future...

Senior Sergeant: “Soldiers, you must get a sex change to enhance our LBGT+ ratios in order to meet Pentagon requirements of our readiness and resilience.”

Private 1: “I don't want a sex change.”

Senior Sargeant: “Attitudes like that will cost us this year's unit citation for superior readiness award.”

Senior Sargeant: “I don't care what you want. I'm ordering you to have that sex change!”

Private 2: “Sir I've already had one can I be exempt? “

Senior Sargeant: “No!”

Private 3: “Sir I've had three can I be exempt? “

Senior Sargeant: “No! Privates 2 & 3, you're experienced in this you need to show some leadership to the others. Private 3 there's 54 too choose from! With 3 you're just getting started!”

Private 3: “Sir! 54! I won't be able to keep track of what sex I am!”

Senior Sargeant: “We have training for that, differing service uniforms, sexual service ribbons, and it will all be in your file. 2 & 3 show some leadership. Do it!”

All privates: “Yes Sir!

Senior Sargeant: “Battalion is determined to win the coveted Sexual Fluidity Unit Citation Award this year! We would have won it last year if we hadn't that one insistent heterosexual! Battalion is determined that won't happen again! Dismissed!

“The biggest challenge currently is the lack of complete freedom to travel when you want to travel without having to get permission from a supervisor,” former Air Force JAG officer and Southwestern law professor Rachel Vanlandingham said.

WTF?

You can't sign your own leave orders! You just can't take off somewhere without telling someone.

In the Air Force, if you work Monday-Friday, and you want to take leave starting on Monday, you better NOT take off Friday evening. You are supposed to stay local UNTIL your leave date starts.

Everybody knows this. I've snuck off early a few times but was never "caught".

Former JAG Rachel knows this...

Cut their budget by 20%, they’ll get the message.

Would they?

Most of this political BS comes from the political appointments and the flag officers who work directly for them, not the troops.

The Biden appointees would just make the troops suffer more, rather than shut up.

This is a tough one, as most large military facilities include hospitals and the bases are federal property — not state.

This also bleeds into Pocahontas’ recent demand that clinics be placed on federal property to circumvent the law.

The legal aspects of this decision are long from finalized and more work will need to be done…

What a BS grandstanding “announcement”. DoD facilities are Federal. They aren’t now and never have been subject to any State laws.
