The Pentagon Announces It Will Refuse to Follow Any State Laws Restricting Abortion Access

The Pentagon has made the announcement that it will refuse to recognize any abortion laws springing from the Supreme Court’s decision that there is no guaranteed right to abortion in the U.S. Constitution.

Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III issued a statement on on Friday regarding the Supreme Court’s ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization.

“Nothing is more important to me or to this Department than the health and well-being of our Service members, the civilian workforce and DOD families,” the Pentagon chief announced. “I am committed to taking care of our people and ensuring the readiness and resilience of our Force. The Department is examining this decision closely and evaluating our policies to ensure we continue to provide seamless access to reproductive health care as permitted by federal law.”

Politico reported that the Department of Defense does not yet have “any policy to announce for accommodating female service members stationed in states that have outlawed abortion,” officials tell NatSec Daily.

“Female troops seeking the procedure already face steep hurdles to getting the care they need: They cannot get abortions at military medical facilities, and federal law also prevents troops from using their Tricare health insurance to cover the cost of the procedures at private facilities, unless the life of the mother is at risk due to the Hyde Amendment,” Politico added.

“The biggest challenge currently is the lack of complete freedom to travel when you want to travel without having to get permission from a supervisor,” former Air Force JAG officer and Southwestern law professor Rachel Vanlandingham said. “Now, women serving here stateside are going to be subject to the whims [of the states] that they are involuntarily assigned to.”

It is not lost on Americans, however, that the same Pentagon that summarily discharged servicemembers for failing to comply with a Covid-19 vaccine mandate has announced it will ignore state laws and suddenly respect the bodily autonomy of female servicemembers.

China and Russia are moving forward to take over the world while our economy is being shredded and the country is being invaded by drug gangs, drugs and terrorists and they’re screaming and yelling about abortion. If another 911 happens I wonder if these idiots would still be screaming about abortion “8 million people have been killed in the largest terror attack in history that used enough fentanyl to kill 12 million” “But what about ABORSHUUUUN??? I WANT AAAAAHHHHHBOOOOORSHHHUUN!”

Female? Needs to be changed to "birthing persons" now that the DOD has gone full woke in terms of recruitment and retention, including paying for gender reassignment surgery. Men can have babies too.

Thank you. This is the second thread today with this misleading, inflammatory headline. This one goes further, quoting "sources" not affiliated with the Pentagon.

It's still bs propaganda when our side does it.

Military facilities are federal property under federal jurisdiction. They are not required to follow local laws on base unless they agree to.

Publicly announcing that they will not follow state abortion restrictions is virtue signaling. Getting outraged about the announcement is ignorance.

But you can't get an abortion at a military hospital so if a servicemember wanted an abortion in a state that has restricted it, what's the military going to do about it? Tricare also doesn't cover abortion.

OF course, the Dems are in total control and could change these laws if they wanted to but they'd rather just cry about them.

But, yes, the military makes their own rules with disregard to the states where their bases are located, as any servicemember with a concealed carry permit understands.

Great movie. “Insurrection At Da Pentagon”. Starring Disney’s evil princess “senorita”, Olivia Rodrigo as General Halftrack. America’s governmental institutions have all become sitcoms. Especially Bonzo and Holder’s “seventeen intelligence communities” who didn’t like President Trump.

If we take back the House and the Senate in November, the first order of business in the lower chamber should be to impeach Garland, Mayorkas and Austin for abuse of power, malfeasance and violating their oath of office.

Then, once the Senate has removed all three from office (ha, ha), the Senate should refuse to take up any nominations for their replacements and cut funding to the DHS and DOJ (FIB included).

Yeah, I'm delusional...

Abortion shouldn’t be a problem for the new Woke military. Most of their recruits are gays, lesbians, and trannies.

Pentagon, like Disney, willingly got into politics. As a result, they should be financially punished. Like DeSantis showed we don’t need to be a doormat to corporate interests, Republicans can also force the Pentagon back into their lane. Cut their budget by 20%, they’ll get the message.

The Pentagon seems to be involved in issues that go a little bit beyond their intended mission.

I'll have to disagree. Killing the enemy *is* its mission.

The Pentagon Memorial is a collection of "184 illuminated benches, arranged according to the victims' ages", from ages 3 - 71.

Interesting design detail.
