Sri Lanka is quite literally collapsing. People are starving, without gas or electricity, etc. Now they are rioting and the military are gunning people down. Wouldn’t be surprised if that reality spreads to the US, UK and all western countries in the next few years.
Sri Lanka’s military opened fire to contain rioting at a fuel station, officials said Sunday as unprecedented queues for petrol and diesel were seen across the bankrupt country.
Troops fired in Visuvamadu, 365 kilometres (228 miles) north of Colombo, on Saturday night as their guard point was pelted with stones, army spokesman Nilantha Premaratne said.
“A group of 20 to 30 people pelted stones and damaged an army truck,” Premaratne told AFP.
Police said four civilians and three soldiers were wounded when the army opened fire for the first time to quell unrest linked to the worsening economic crisis.

Sri Lanka is an interesting place. Too bad the government has trashed the place with bad policies.
Tesla costs more than GDP of Sri Lanka using green energy.
Prepper ping.

They’re following the Biden plan for self annihilation 🤪
They think go green and they’ll have Shangri-La , oops
It’s already happening. Listen to our farmers talking about the price of all their inputs going up 2X-4X.

Coming to an America near you...
I Take it that they don’t have the means to shoot back.
Just think it all started when they tried to Go Green”
that’s exactly right ... fertilizer-free farming mandated by their insane government caused crop failures and failure of domestic food sufficiency, and limited foreign reserves therefore had to be used to import food, leaving no hard currency to buy imported fuel with ...
Sounds like what the leftists who run the US are doing in California by taking crops and fruit and nut trees out of use by withholding water.
Let’s look at what happens when barriers are put in place of synthetic fertiliser use. Sri Lanka is an example of the fallibility of organic farming on a large scale and the folly of government interventions in food and agricultural markets.
The Sri Lankan government decided in 2021 to force the entire island nation into organic farming by banning the use of synthetic fertilisers and pesticides. The reasoning behind this was twofold: firstly, a belief that a ban would reduce healthcare costs and secondly, to reduce foreign currency outflows.
The ban resulted in drastically reduced yields for the country’s major crops of rice and tea, meaning Sri Lanka now requires much larger food imports.
Intervention in fertiliser use was a monumentally flawed policy, and many scientists and analysts raised concerns about the implications. First and foremost, it has locally exacerbated the food price inflation that the world is already suffering through. Secondly, it has caused a massive economic shock to the nation, causing protests to erupt and an inability to pay foreign debt.
Quick! Raise taxes! Confiscate guns! More communism!
‘We want justice, not fuel’: Sri Lanka’s Tamils on north-south divide
It was 13 years ago that Sri Lanka’s three-decade civil war between the Tamil separatist militant group, the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) – commonly known as the Tamil Tigers – and the Sri Lankan military came to a bloody end in this district. Tens of thousands lost their lives as the LTTE was defeated and up to 100,000 people, mostly Tamils, were abducted by the Sri Lankan armed forces and never seen again.

India may not be too interested in helping the Sri Lankan Buddhists who fought the Tamil Hindu minority, especially since the Indian party in power is the Hindu nationalist BJP.
“Can’t India provide some sort of humanitarian relief?”
They’re worse off than Ceylon.
Sri Lanka, formerly known as Ceylon and officially the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, is an island country in South Asia. It lies in the Indian Ocean, southwest of the Bay of Bengal,
India is providing food and medicine.
India has extended $1.5 billion in credit lines to Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka’s crisis will be managed by India. This would be a chance for India to get beanie points.
Nite that this may lead to Sri Lanka joining the Indian federation.
India has 23 official languages, one of which, Tamil, is spoken in Sri lanka. The other sri Lankan language, Sinhalese, is related to Maithili, spoken in Bihar, a northern Indian state.
Not quite, that was just the last straw.
It started with the previous President, who was a brother of the current president.
They have made disastrous economic decisions for the past 15 years.
Teslas and more electric powered stuff would make a lot if sense for Sri Lanka and for India. They have a lot of sun, wind power etc.
If they had cut themselves off from oil imports, they would be in a marginally better position.
Note that what works in Sri Lanka or Denmark doesn’t necessarily work in a continent sized USA. And vice versa
