In a normal year, America’s heartland would be brimming with lush, green wheat crops – but this is not a normal year.
According to reports, western Kansas is a wasteland of parched, dead fields. Wheat crops have been decimated, which means the American food supply will suffer yet another major blow.
“There’s nothing out there,” says Vance Ehmke, a wheat farmer from Lane County. “It’s dead. It’s just ankle-high straw.”
Ehmke’s farm is one of many that, after being planted several months ago, now looks like a dust bowl. Rows of brown, shriveled plants nest in hardened dirt that is now scarred with deep cracks due to a lack of water combined with the relentless beating sun.
If there was ever a year for this not to be happening, this is the year. Global wheat supplies are already being strangled by numerous factors, including the war in Ukraine. And now a major wheat production region of the United States is facing near-total desolation.

In the Revelation it speaks of a famine that harms the grains of our grear breadbaskets but not olive oil or wine. Global cooling or war could disrupt the breadbaskets but leave the others untouched.
Seems like wars and rumors of wars combined with douchbag greens in office rather than global cooling may be more likely.

Looks like this year’s Kansas Winter wheat crop will come in about in line with 2021 (~265 million bushels) and more than some recent years:
I just read the June 5th report from Kansas state department of agriculture and they are looking at 275m bushels in line with last years total for 271m. It’s nice to see the crying chicken littles are trying to scam us to buy expensive food.
I’m finding it hard to believe that the Western parts of plains states don’t have hot, dry weather EVERY year, and must rely on irrigation to keep crops flourishing. This seems like more fear porn, especially given the source website’s name.
Bill Gates claims to be able to control the weather, not to mention global pandemics.
Time to arrest, prosecute, convict and execute him for crimes against humanity.

Lane County is just one county, east and central Kansas counties are doing fine.
Lush and green in late June? yeah no, it’s day 7 of wheat harvest in Kansas.
I have rice and beans sufficient for a year for my home. Also important is multi vitamins. The rice and beans will give calories and protein. If one does not have access to vegetables you will get a vitamin deficiency.
Oddly for just a few hundred dollars one can assure food for a year for two at Sams by buying bulk purchases. If electricity is gone I have ample firewood, as I live on several acres of land with trees that always need trimming. Where I live is a housing complex of each of 3 to 5 acres. Mine is 8 acres. It has deer and turkey and oddly on occasion a mountain lion. I have not seen him in a few years. He is there. He or she likes deer and turkey also. A very large lake is withing walking distance of my home. I know how to make a fish trap.
I will survive and am armed and proficient with such.
Fear porn. I have family in Kansas.
Is that supposed to be:
1) heat
2) health
3) hearth
Or some other word ?
Yeah.....your woods will be shot out in two months and your lake will be over-fished likewise.
It’s not as though you, your neighbors, friends, their friends, their relatives, their friends acquaintances and everyone in the general area haven’t thought of it either.
