I run the coffee and doughnuts after the 9:00 AM Mass here in Phoenix, AZ.
On Monday morning I go to our doughnut supplier, a Kroger-owned supermarket, and submit my order for 12 dozen doughnuts, describing how many and what kind.
The ladies in the bakery apologized as they informed me that they would not be able to fill my order as described due to a "doughnut shortage".
A doughnut shortage?! Is nothing sacred? Here we are fiddling with baby formula and right under our noses I am told that there will be no chocolate doughnuts, no cake donuts, and likely not enough doughnuts at all.
They agreed to substitute other pastries that ordinarily cost more, so I have no beef with the supermarket. Nonetheless, if there is a doughnut shortage, anything is possible. Nothing is safe.
Assuming I survive a colonoscopy tomorrow and get back to actual food, Krispy Kreme sounds great.
Oh, my wife can make doughnuts (Dutch Oliebollen, delicious), and she does every New Years. That would be an imposition for her to make enough for 140 doughnut eaters every week. We don’t have a proper Hobart machine to mix the dough, either.
First world problems.
Of course. I hope you understand my over the top Vanity was partially tongue in cheek, though the story is true.
Wide rhetorical berth given, of course!
This is good.
Too many fat, diabetic Americans.
Now you need an electric car.
Praise our Dear Leader…
This will cripple their police force.
Yeah I posted that before I got far enough down to read that the problem with Bosa was the price.
Peanut butter is getting hard to find, too, since they had a recent recall. Very empty shelves a few days ago when I went (Friday). Two different stores, and neither one had much to offer. I didn’t have the time or the inclination to keep hunting. On another trip, I’ll try another store.
“Chris Christie is calling the suicide hotline.”
LOL!
Its all part of “The Plan”..../s
My go-to pastry is apple fritters.
The best donuts I’ve had are peanut sticks at a cider mill near Olean, NY.
Rainbow Donuts North Scottsdale.
Run buy a nice Chinese woman.
Yum!
See my post 46 for a call out to Rainbow Donuts. The Church and I are both in the east South Mountain area, near Tempe, so north Scottsdale is way too much of a drive. I hope they have no shortage of doughnuts for you at Rainbow. Scottsdale can be funny. They had an upscale doughnut place near Bell Road for a while that actually had $6 doughnuts. Now, mind you, the doughnuts had all sorts of things done to them and were the size of a small cake, but $6? I couldn’t just get a humble jelly doughnut. They had none. It was the kind of place that you try once, and don’t have again. They were gone six months later.
