I was a young skull full of mush in the 60's, but as immature as I was, even I sensed the "peace love freedom happiness" mantra was an illusion. Then as now everything libs and progs touch turns to 💩

I had a whole lot of fun.

The dirty stinking hippies of the 60’s became the dirty stinking yuppies of the 80s and begat even dirtier stinkier children

I thought they were dirty stinking hippies back then - and I was 8.

One only need to look at Bill and Hillary to see how true this statement is.

So, be honest - the whole thing was about pu$$y, wasn’t it?
I have long thought that 90% of the men in the women’s movement were just chasing tail. I expect the same was in play for “peace and love”.
To: JonPreston
Oh, yeah, a lot of the music back then was good, and many of the coolest most badass cars ever built came out of that era. Best of times, worst of times.

The first half of the 60's was really cool. Styles reflected the late 50's, with men's hats going out of style (due to JFK not wearing one). Women wore tasteful dresses with chic hairstyles. The Kennedys, Rob and Laura Petrie and James Bond are representative of the period.
By the late 60's, the hippie culture ruined the fashionable early 60's look. Men had wide lapels and longer hair with sideburns, women burned their bras and stopped wearing their elegant clothes. It was as if taste and culture were declining.

Mad Men really chronicled well how much things changed throughout the decade.

One of the myths from the 1960s was:
The Beatles are from England.
They were actually from Indianapolis.

I had a TR6, followed by a Pontiac Firebird. I should have bought a GTO, but in 1968 it would have found a wall very quickly.

“Mad Men really chronicled well how much things changed throughout the decade.”
Sort of. However they exaggerated everything to such a degree it was comical to those of us who actually lived during that period.
Sure people smoked in the office but come on. Drinking in the office? Usually that was done after work. Few Roger Sterling types were doing LSD whose use was not as widespread as that show implies. The series was a farce but I enjoyed the entertainment.

Charles Manson ended the stinking hippie movement.

I would think at ad agencies with creative people that was pretty much how it went down, not necessarily the same as say a financial or engineering company.

The Brit cars of that era were fun to drive but very temperamental. I know someone who restored a TR6 and he learned the hard way why Lucas is called "the Prince of Darkness". Why do the British drink warm beer? Because Lucas makes refrigerators, too 😃😃

I went to kindergarten in 67 and our bus was equipped with an intercom playing music.
I clearly remember listening to Donovans Mellow Yellow and thinking how weird and spooky it was.

Nah. It was nothing like that in the office. After hours? Yes it was loose. But exaggeration of periods of history is commonplace in series and movies. Heck even westerns did it. Adds entertainment.
