Florida’s Gov. Ron DeSantis said on May 3 he is concerned about the national economy as he fears President Joe Biden’s policies will “plunge the United States into a recession.”
And DeSantis said that while inflation continues to rise with an upsurge in prices of goods, Florida’s economy is looking good.
The comments came during a press conference where the governor presented a $20 million check to Lee County for flood control and other water management projects. DeSantis said that Florida’s income for April exceeded expectations.
“It’s our current estimate that the state of Florida brought in about $760 million above estimate,” he said.

After being married for 40 years and raising 3 kids to successful adulthood, I'm looking forward to being in a recession in Florida again. You see the last time I lived there was from 1977 to 1980. The Carter years.
All without a state income tax!
Recession or runaway inflation.
Thousands of new Floridians are already pouring in here by the hour.
Good messaging. Like the best friend who will open her door to the neighbor escaping her wife-beating husband.
Florida is not exactly recession proof.
One reason the state’s economy is good is because of tourism. Tourists pay of lot of sales tax.
As the old timers say: “Yankees are greener than citrus and twice as easy to pick.”
If Biden continues to destroy the American economy, it will eventually hurt tourism and Florida’s economy.
That could be offset somewhat with rich refugees flooding into the peninsular.
We’re going to have both, along with double digit interest rates.
If? More like when.....
Eminent domain Disney, bulldoze it...plant a housing development there...sell homes at costs.

Florida is going to be Slovenia, while the DC Metro will be Sarajevo. JMO.
That’s right! I’ve been down here since November and nearly blacked out from the humidity. My porches are crawling with bugs, I’m certain a hurricane will destroy my house, and heaven only knows what Florida Man will do to me! Also gotta worry about gators, panthers, snakes, killer flamingos and belligerent drunks twice my size!
Just don’t come, people; you’ll be better off!

Not to mention deer. Sure, the ones down here are small, but I’m sure they can still do great damage to a Prius. Rats with hooves!
And lizards all over the damn place! Any woman sees them at my house will flee!

Get a cat. Manx preferably.
That will cut down the critter population somewhat.

It won't be easy.
But DeSantis will come up with the best choices in a bad situation, and like in the pandemic Floridians will feel safe ...and be free.
My neighbor has three outdoor cats. I’m sure they’ve all snacked on a lizard or two.
