Was Joseph Vissarionovich Djugashvili, Known as Stalin, a Jew?It turns out that this question greatly troubled Adolf Hitler.
This week, British journalist Sefton Delmer published his memoirs, revealing that Hitler's personal photographer had told him that Hitler had personally instructed him to inquire into the matter.
The photographer was sent with the Nazi foreign minister to Moscow at the time of signing the famous Soviet-German agreement.
Hitler told him: "Listen, I want you to get as close to Stalin as possible and take a picture of his earlobe. I want to know if the earlobe is close to the face, meaning that he is Jewish, or that he is free, meaning that he is Aryan. It's very important for me to know that."
The photographer returned to Hitler with a photograph of his ear proving that Stalin was not a Jew.
His ear? Lol
He was Georgian.
That’s a new one. A Georgian Jew who was studying for the priesthood is possible. Usually, they look at the nose or a bit lower. But I don’t think earlobes have anything to do with it. Was Hitler a racist;-?
He was Georgian, ie the only true Caucasians.
Yes but also a nut. He was many things
Somehow, I can’t picture Stalin in overalls with a piece of straw ‘twixt his teeth, though. I’d sure like to see that photo shopped, though. Hint.
Perhaps not dispositive but Stalin was once a seminarian in the Orthodox Church.
Indeed, Stalin was to be ordained as a Priest, earlier in his life.
I laughed when I read it. Especially the title in Der SPIEGEL.
Thanks, I haven’t seen that.

Trotsky (Bronstein) was Jewish and I think Lenin was 1/4 Jewish ethnically. Stalin (Dzhugashvili) was Georgian. Perhaps Stalin and Trotsky used their revolutionary names to deemphasize their ethnic backgrounds.
I don’t think anyone has claimed Stalin had any Jewish background.
Stalin had been a seminary student and that might be partly why he seemed to regard any deviation from his party line as heresy.
Stalin was a Georgian, not a Russian.
“Stalin was a Georgian”

I should have started that.
And Hitler was an Austrian, not a German.
“And Hitler was an Austrian, not a German.”

True, biit both are considered the same “ethnicity.”
The key though to Hitler being Austrian, is that he considered all parts of the former Austria-Hungary to be a natural part of the German Reich. Had Hitler been, say a Prussian or born in Germany, his attitude may have been different.
