Dear Marylanders,
Our state continues to lead the nation in health and economic recovery, and Maryland is emerging from the Omicron wave faster and stronger than just about any other state in America.
To continue our recovery, this week, I announced a $2 million VaxCash 2.0 promotion as part of our new COVID-19 booster action plan to get more Marylanders fully protected from COVID-19 and its variants. For the next 12 weeks, we will award a total of $2 million in cash prizes to 12 Marylanders who have received their booster shot.
Entry is simple: you must be 18 or older, a Maryland resident, and have received all of your shots in Maryland. Beginning Tuesday Feb. 15, the first winner will be selected with a special kickoff drawing of $500,000. Get boosted by Monday at any of our hundreds of clinics to be part of this $500,000 drawing.
In addition to the VaxCash 2.0 promotion, our new booster action plan includes expanding call- and text-based outreach to all eligible Marylanders and offering booster shots at many hospital-based testing sites.
Our biggest takeaway from the Omicron surge is just how critically important it is to get a booster shot. All of the data shows that protection does wane over time. No one should consider themselves fully protected unless you have gotten a booster shot. To find a vaccine provider, visit covidvax.maryland.gov.
As Healthcare Heroes Appreciation Week comes to a close, I want to sincerely thank all of our state’s healthcare heroes who have faced unprecedented and never-ending challenges. Correct. Both from a bad outcome of COVID-19 and from many other diseases as well. Even suggesting a cheap and simple therapeutic like taking vitamin D would help.
