Will Russia invade Ukraine?

Will there be a war over Ukraine? Have recent negotiations opened a path to peace? Unfortunately, the diplomats have achieved very little. The White House says no further talks with Russia have been planned.[i] Worse yet, American intelligence officials say that Russia is setting up a pretext to invade Ukraine. On 14 January Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby said, “Without getting into too much detail, we do have information that indicates Russia is already working actively to create a pretext for a potential invasion…. In fact, we have information that they have prepositioned a group of operatives to conduct what we call a ‘false flag operation’; an operation designed to look like an attack on … Russian-speaking people … as an excuse to go in.”[ii]

I felt pretty safe for four years after the Obama regime was done.

I”m not feeling safe, now.

I entered public school education in the fall of 1958, and I recall all of the years I spent in elementary school.

I remember fathers - many of whom were WWII vets, like my own - filling empty clorox bottles with water, to store in the basement in case of an attack.

I remember going through the drills where we had to get under our little desks, with our butts toward the windows, in case of a blast.

I remember sitting in my back yard, and seeing black smoke rise over DC after MLK was murdered.

I’ve lived through gas lines and serious inflation, and all sorts of stuff.

But in all of my long life, I have not felt the worry that I feel now for the future of my country.

Everything touched by this dimwit ‘president’ - or whomever is handling him - turns to crap.

I try to be an optimist; but things are not looking good right now.

At first I thought it was a bluff, but so much equipment has been moved, its too expensive to do nothing at this point.

I also think that China will take some Taiwanese islands during the Olympics, and you may see Kim Jung Un shell that island.

Could be it.

One thing is, you dont build up that much military without an intention on using it.

Do you have any idea of how much US military was “built up” in West Germany during the Cold War? None of it was ever used with the minor exception of the Berlin Airlift. Also you might want to check the US buildup in Korea. Building up forces does not always mean invasion.

And to this day we are suckered into defending the GD Krauts who are most likely the lynch pins in this whole affair.

Just how much military equipment are they selling to other countries?

Its the Poles that we should be backing. Not a historical corrupt regime in the Ukraine who are lining the pockets of the Son of a B in the White House.

As far I am concerned, Putin can take back what was formally East Germany.

Of course, why would he?

Merkel was East German and cut a cozy energy deal with Putin.

A “unified” Germany is becoming as authoritarian as East Germany was under the Soviets.

Putin got the Germans on a string.

More resistance to Putin in the Ukraine than Germany.

Can’t see that United States has a dog in this fight.

But I couldn’t see that we a dog in the fight in Nam, nor Iraq nor Afghanistan.

Deep State loves fighting phony wars in far off lands.

Deep State doesn’t give a rat’s petutie about millions invading our Southern border.

All of this is pure DC deep state hype and propaganda. For what purpose? Cover for their next aggressive political move

If for no other reason Putin is finding out just who’s gonna get their panties in a bunch and who is not. Try to imagine the turmoil here in the USA if our president were to get involved in a war over in the Ukraine. It would be an absolute disaster for Biden and the democrats but Putin has to know that this is the time to move if he ever intends to move. And what is the downside for Russia? There really isn’t one.

So my gut tells me Putin is going to make a move, Germany will simply watch him do it and that’s that.

I asked a Russian guy what he thought the percentage chance of Russian invasion was. He said 50-50.

LOL! Smart man!

If the US and Europe are really interested in defusing the chance of a war between Russia and Ukraine, I like Pat Buchanan’s suggestion that NATO simply say membership is now closed. No future admittance.

With Putin’s greatest fear and casus belli removed, any move he makes against Ukraine makes him the sole instigator and aggressor. Then European countries can decide for themselves how to handle it and the US needn’t commit to anything.

He’s a very arrogant Russian immigrant, pro-Putin, basically a Russian Imperialist. He thinks Putin SHOULD invade and annex Ukraine because it’s “Russian territory” and they mostly speak Russian.

When I pointed out that his justifications sounded exactly like Hitler invading Sudentenland and that it led to hundreds of millions of dead people, did he still consider it worthwhile to invade Ukraine if it costs Russia hundreds of millions of dead? He got real mumbly.

When I read the Wikipedia page to him that “Some 69% of Ukrainians want to join NATO, according to a June 2017 poll by the Democratic Initiatives Foundation, “ his justification was that it was “Russian Territory”. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ukraine%E2%80%93NATO_relations#Popular_opinion_in_Ukraine

He actually increased the chances of 60% for invasion when I explained what Biden said about a “minor incursion”. He doesn’t seem to GAFF what Ukranians think about having an independent country.

The current administration doesn’t GAFF about our southern border. Why should we be wringing our hands with worry about Ukraine’s border with Russia?

I hope the Russians don’t invade Ukraine. I’d rather the US more involved in securing its own borders rather than Ukraine’s. Germany, France, and the UK should be able to handle Russia.

I think we have our hands full at home and abroad in the Middle East/Asia. Ukraine is European problem. I think Europeans should handle that one.

I’m in favor of Taiwan for the Taiwanese, Afghanistan for the Afghans, Ukraine for the Ukrainians, Botwanaland for the botswanawhatevers.

When one of those @$$hole countries starts killing Americans, then I favor the emBASEee strategy.

From my home page

I have been advocating for several years a policy I call ‘embaseees’. Embassy + AirBase —> EmBASEeees. We go into a terrorist country, clear out their taliban equivalent, then withdraw to very large Embassies, perhaps 3 of them. Have them big enough to encompass a military airbase where we can use it for decades on end to conduct anti-terrorism operations. As long as the ‘host’ country aint killing Americans then we let them have self-sovereignty. Kind of like how we operated in the Phillipines for decades. We could even have an intermediate zone that we patrol but it would be autonomous. Let them have their taste of freedom. A referendum every 10 years to see how large the boundaries of the intermediate autonomous zone should be.

Great. More involvement and money spent in other parts of the world, trying to solve their problems for them, while US citizens are left to the mercies of illegals and “refugees” killing US citizens right here at home because we have a porous southern border.
