Oooh! Want!
The Browning HP is something I would like to get. If only I was not frightened of loud noises!
One of the great regrets of my life is selling a Belgian Hi Power to a friend.
For $300.
Thanks for bringing back a painful memory.

They are great relics of history but I’ll take DA/SA autoloaders any day of the week.
I’ve always found the handle a bit short for my big hands, resulting in my pinky finger flopping around. That’s my only objection. The ones I have tried never had the mag extension. If I was buying this or another gun in 9 mm today, would I pay up for the classic authenticity of a Hi-Power or go with something more modern in format? Probably go with something more modern.
Springfield has also introduced their SA-35 High Power, another "improved" Hi-Power with 15 round capacity.
I wonder if Springfield's High Power and FN's High Power are related?
I object to the headline and the loaded concept it is promulgating.
The Browning designed HiPower did not FIGHT on both sides … it was USED by both sides. An inanimate object is merely a tool to be used by a human being or a group of human beings, it has no animus itself to choose to fight for either side. Using this phrase “fight on both sides” buys into the arguments of the anti-gun insanity that it is the GUN which causes the violence that the tool is used to commit, not the user who inflicts it. Please, writers, think about how you use words and phrases before you commit them to the page!
Springfield Armory has come out with their version:

MSRP is $699.00
If only I could afford it.
Not a lot of money, I thought it would be at least 1k.
I am happy with my two St Louis Brownings and a Hungarian version.
Bought my first BHP in the 1968 race riots when I realized a six shot single action cowboy gun just was not enough for me.
My dad has a never fired Springfield 1911A1 -
It is beautiful.
Garand Thumb did a great torture test on the new hi-power recently. Great vid. See link.
I like many of the newer designs out there. Unfortunately I’m on a fixed budget. So I troll the used gun racks for diamonds in the rough. Nice piece though.

Friend of mine bought a BHP 10 years ago or so. Tried it out, and we were both rather unhappy with the magazine safety and how it made the trigger pull feel very gritty.
I ended up buying a CZ75 instead, and I have to say I’m very happy with it.
But yeah, if the new one does not have that cursed feature, I might be interested someday.
I’ve been thinking of selling mine, then I said ‘naaah’.
This is how it looked when JMB died
Springfield Armory's version is better shooter than Browning/FN's because they scrapped the magazine interlock (which was a feature that only the military could love) , which cleaned up the trigger pull substantially.
And oh by the way, JMB’s prototype was striker-fired and had a 16-round (staggered) standard magazine.
The staggered magazine was Saive’s own design but he scrapped the striker and added a barrel bushing.
Regardless who’s made it, what you buy today has very little in common with what JMB managed to get done before he died.
