BRACE YOURSELF! The 'Mother of All Supply Chain Shocks' Is Coming as China Shuts Down Major Ports Due to Pandemic
GATEWAY PUNDIT ^ | 1/16/2022 | Jim Hoft

As if there wasn’t enough bad economic news — The War Room opened their first hour on Friday warning viewers of the coming “mother of all supply chain shocks.”

Zero Hedge reported on the coming Biden crisis on Thursday.

And, as we have also discussed in recent weeks, one place where this growth slowdown is emerging – besides the upcoming deterioration in US consumption where spending is now being funded to record rates by credit cards before it encounters a troubling air pocket – is China and its “covid-zero” policy in general, and its covid-locked down ports in particular.

But what until recently was a minority view confined to our modest website, has since expanded and as Bloomberg writes overnight, the effects of restrictions in China as the country maintains its Covid-zero policy “are starting to hit supply chains in the region.” As a result of the slow movement of goods through some of the country’s busiest and most important ports means shippers are now diverting to Shanghai, causing the types of knock-on delays at the world’s biggest container port that led to massive congestion bottlnecks last summer that eventually translated into a record number of container ships waiting off the coast of California, a glut that hasn’t been cleared to this day.

November 19th, 2021 we ordered new metal railings for our front porch. Big-Box store, similar to Home Depot. Nothing custom-made; you just cut them to the size you need and install.

The guy said, ‘2-3 weeks’ and we could come back to pick them up.

Well, that came and went, so I checked our order on-line. Delivery is June 14th, 2022! And it’s a Wisconsin-made product.

So, I don’t know what’s up with that. Mainly, we’ve been buying up basics for car and truck maintenance. I need a new truck, but that’s not looking like it will happen anytime soon, so need to keep my old one limping along for a few more years. :(

Half the problem is people aren’t working, a lot due to government payments.

I have a few questions that I am sure no one here knows the answers to.

1. Does China have a “real” covid scariant problem? The videos and whatnot trotted out in the beginning were faked so as to make covid appear much worse that it really was, for various reasons.

2. Are any container ships unloaded at US ports? Or is it just very very slow?

3. What is the REAL reason container ships are not being unloaded? Could it related to the EO about no goods coming in from countries that help defraud US elections by any chance?

4. If container ships with produce are rotting out there, why don’t the managers of ports let them cut in line?

5. Since China is imploding economically in many ways, it is possible that Chinese factories can’t make crap goods at the rate it used to? And add to that much less US $ coming in since our shelvers are emptying out and thus far less Chinese crap in stores?

The only way to prevent this in the future is to ban all Chinese imports and start making everything we need here.

As opposed to the potholes and falling bridges built by corrupt, connected political donor contractors in Illinois, New Jersey, New York, California etc?

Exactly the same.

The only difference is the scale of corruption.

Brakes. Gotta have them. They all come from china now.

http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/racatalog.php

Good prices on brand names. Many times, you can get Raybestos, Wagner, Bendix(all made in china now) delivered to your door for about the same price as the auto part chain’s store brands. Even though those good old names are made in china now, they have many decades of experience in brake parts.

They also carry OEM brands like Motorcraft, AC Delco, Delphi, Bosch. I always buy OEM spark plugs especially Motorcraft for Fords. They also have Standard Ignition, Moog steering and chassis. Timken seals, National bearings, Gates belts. TRW. All the old names. All made in china now but with decades of engineering behind them. That and I always hold out hope that one day, they’ll come back here. Slim hope I know but I feel it’s worth keeping them in business. If nothing else, their headquarters are still here so it keeps some Americans working.

Brakes, steering, suspension, belts, tune up & filters. All needed, wearable parts. Good to have spares of brake pads/shoes, belts(including timing belts), spark plugs, wipers, filters etc. They’re only going to be more expensive next year.

I replaced the heater core on my neighbor’s truck a few years back. Ordered it from Rock Auto for $45 incl shipping. Local parts store wanted $90. Rock Auto gives out discount codes and encourages sharing of them. You get 5% off which sometimes about pays for shipping. You can search the web for “rockauto discount code” and will usually find one on retailmenot.com. I’ve never not been able to find one but if I’ve ordered from them recently, I’ll have one in an email that hasn’t expired yet.

They’ve got good shipping prices and when buying multiple items, once you put one item in the cart, all other parts that ship from the same location will have a little truck icon next to them. Helps save on shipping by having multiple items come from a minimum of locations, preferably all from one location but it doesn’t always work out that way.

Most aftermarket auto parts are made in china now. The exception is things that are re-manufactured, many of which are rebuilt in mexico.

Oh in that kind of corruption they at least build the bridge. Here in DC down the road is a very minor bridge over a stream. The bridge is about 50 ft long and it is two lanes wide. They have been paying some well connected fraudster for years to work on that bridge. Who knew you could have a construction company and have a lifetime career and a comfortable retirement all on one small stretch of road. Marion Barry’s spirit lives on here.

No bagged shredded home fries either, need them for a recipe and no local stores have them.

Over Christmas, I had a couple delayed packages.

For a birthday in January, had a Lego order cancelled. Not sure why. Had to reorder and rush shipping to get it to grandkids on time.

I’ve purchased several items that fall into some of those categories and have had no problems. On the other hand, I have no interest in buying a new car or a new computer for quite a while.

I only eat beef and we raise it here. Chicken and pork and potatoes. Do I like grapes and bananas ? Yes. But I won’t die.
