I read Mark’s book when it came out. I wouldn’t trust those state Reps. after 2020.

It would be nice to do it in the same building as 1787. Same clothing. No AC.

They aren’t even half way to gathering enough states to even call the convention, so any consideration of ratification is premature anyway.

I think the most likely positive outcome would be to pressure Congress to propose one or more of the more popular amendments before the convention was ever called.

But stranger things… 15 years ago, who would have guessed we would have constitutional carry in over 20 states?

Our institutions are totally corrupt. Anything they are involved in will only produce a corrupt result.

It should have happened under The Stable Genius. He could have encouraged it.

It will never happen under biden. That window has closed, likely forever. PREPARE.

The convention of states should go even further - the states should have had to re-ratify the Constitution annually.

In other words, each year, states should decide whether to remain or secede.

If you think that’s extreme… why?

The point of ratification was to make sure the states were freely choosing to join the union. So, if free and willing consent was important at the start, why would it not be important going forward.

Or should it be like a crime family - where once you are in - there is no option to leave?

You misunderstand the difference between representatives and delegates.

Can you please explain the difference, and explain how this difference should allay my concerns?

If anyone on FR, or simply anyone, thinks this is a good idea; you are simply crazy.
You really trust todays “conservatives” to do better and to correct any perceived wrongs? Really? At best there will be capitulation, negotiations, and compromise with the left, and we will lose our God given rights. There will be no good brought about from this. None.

“...I think it’s far more likely that well-organized and well-funded leftists would use the opportunity to simply destroy the Bill of Rights.”

I see you haven’t read Article V of our Constitution. Here is what it says:

“Article V

The Congress, whenever two thirds of both houses shall deem it necessary, shall propose amendments to this Constitution, or, on the application of the legislatures of two thirds of the several states, shall call a convention for proposing amendments, which, in either case, shall be valid to all intents and purposes, as part of this Constitution, when ratified by the legislatures of three fourths of the several states, or by conventions in three fourths thereof, as the one or the other mode of ratification may be proposed by the Congress; provided that no amendment which may be made prior to the year one thousand eight hundred and eight shall in any manner affect the first and fourth clauses in the ninth section of the first article; and that no state, without its consent, shall be deprived of its equal suffrage in the Senate.”

It only says amendments may be proposed. They would still need to be individually ratified by 38 of the 50 states. Just like amendments proposed by Congress. Only the States are proposing them, not the corrupt Congress.

So how exactly could leftists hijack the process? Exactly which steps could get us there? Which specific amendments would be proposed by 34 states, and ratified by 38? (That’s called, “Logistics.”)

Or are you simply fearful?

“Amateurs talk theory. Experts talk Logistics.”

“If there was a possible amendment with enough support to be ratified by 38 states, wouldn’t it likely be proposed by Congress first?”

Term Limits will never be proposed by Congress. Yet 80%+ of Americans support them. Article V convention will get it done. Then at least we can get rid of the fossils ans get new blood in there.

“I think the greater concern is that we would have a difficult time getting ANY proposed amendments ratified. But I don’t think that is an excuse to not try.”

Which is why we should start very small. Propose 1 amendment: Term Limits. Leave everything else alone for now. Make the entire argument about that. Get it done, show the people it will work, then go back again for more. Nothing says we can only have 1. Start with an easy victory.

“What would prevent an unrestricted convention from making wholesale changes to both?”

Straw man. Show where in Article V it says “unrestricted.” It doesn’t, and nobody with a brain is proposing an unrestricted convention. Article V limits it to proposing amendments. Not changing the constitution. Not opening it up to anything else.

Article V

The Congress, whenever two thirds of both houses shall deem it necessary, shall propose amendments to this Constitution, or, on the application of the legislatures of two thirds of the several states, shall call a convention for proposing amendments, which, in either case, shall be valid to all intents and purposes, as part of this Constitution, when ratified by the legislatures of three fourths of the several states, or by conventions in three fourths thereof, as the one or the other mode of ratification may be proposed by the Congress; provided that no amendment which may be made prior to the year one thousand eight hundred and eight shall in any manner affect the first and fourth clauses in the ninth section of the first article; and that no state, without its consent, shall be deprived of its equal suffrage in the Senate.

“The amendments that conservatives don’t like are the ones that will get concerted, organized backing, funding, lobbying and massive media support from BigTech, the MSM, and the rest of the Left machine which successfully corrupted the 2020 presidential and congressional elections. That’s what concerns me.”

State one amendment, just a single one, which 34 states would back and 38 states approve. Just one. Go ahead, let’s hear it.

Or are you blowing chaff?

This is Article V, in its entirety:

Now explain how that allows whatever you are hysterical about.

It lists 2 methods of proposing amendments, and one method of ratifying them. Nothing else. We’re saying, “Let’s try the other method of proposing amendments,” nothing else. Still need to be ratified by 38 States.

For those that think that an Article V convention is pointless or ill advised, let me remind you that there is no Article VI.

Careful what you wish for.

I would be very concerned with what the liberals/socialists would do with the convention of states and the way they’ve hijacked the elections. The conservatives wouldn’t be the only ones putting up proposed amendments . . .

Fear, Uncertainty and despair. It is all the opponents ever have to offer . It gets monotonous reading all these cowards whining , sniveling and soiling themselves! Man up! It is what the original Patriots did. We can always fight later on if any their fears come true.

The relationship between state legislatures and delegates is identical to that between you and your attorney.

An attorney has no power beyond that granted by his principal.

Civil War II has already started. Blue State politicians and government employees conspired with Federal Deep State, globalist totalitarians and their street thugs, and the Propaganda Media to steal an election in order to force Red States to bail out failed Blue States.
