Maybe he was protecting Trump as well as himself?

I predict Trump will forgive him and call him out for recognition in the years ahead.

It’s amazing how wars have been won because of slyness on the part of warrior leaders.

Violating the Chain of Command entails not following orders or executing orders of those not in the Chain of Command.

I can’t see it directly but maybe he was told to be silent and he disobeyed. Seems like charges were ‘lumped’ together to pad violations, make it look substantive.

I’m not condemning him because he has the right enemies. He threw away his career for a good cause. The Trump incident is noise and will be resolved in the years ahead if they don’t kill him first by an unfortunate accident.

The real bad guy here is The Thief-in-Chief.

Those are charges, not convictions. Its a Captain’s Mast - a finding of charges, an arraignment, not a courts martial.

You are correct but reporters are hired guns to blow things out of proportion.

A Captain’s Mast allowed him to be dishonorably discharged even though he’s resigned his commission.

He’ll be Ok.

Captains Mast cant DD someone. Or discharge him at all. Reduction in rank, up to 30 days in the brig, half-pay, etc. That’s about it. Unpleasant but not career ruining.

Yikes, I just found it. What an ass.

Lt. Col Stuart Scheller of the US Marines

Lt. Col. Stuart Scheller is in a military jail for denouncing the US over its Afghanistan pullout.
Pro-Trump entities have shared their support for Scheller, including by raising over $2 million.
Scheller, however, has said he’d rather “sit in jail” than accept support from Donald Trump.

The MAGA community has raised more than $2 million for a Marine officer who went viral for criticizing the US withdrawal from Afghanistan and saying he wanted to “bring the whole fucking system down.” The officer in question, however, has spoken out against former President Donald Trump.

Lt. Col. Stuart Scheller, a decorated battalion commander, is in military jail on suspicion of violating military laws.

After the news, the Pipe Hitter Foundation set up a fundraising platform for Scheller.

The foundation is run by the former Navy SEAL Eddie Gallagher, who was convicted in 2019 after posing for a photo with the body of an Islamic State captive. Trump granted him clemency in November 2020.

The appeal had raised more than $2,262,000 as of Sunday.

Scheller has been celebrated as a hero across right-wing politics, according to David Gilbert, writing in Vice. Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene, Lauren Boebert, and Madison Cawthorn have backed him, and dozens of Republicans, led by Rep. Louie Gohmert, signed a letter calling for Scheller’s release.

One of the most secretive and powerful groups in GOP politics just had its cellphone numbers leaked. Here’s what its members said about Trump 2024 when we started calling.

Scheller, however, has publically renounced any help from Trump or his followers, saying he would “rather sit in jail.”

He also said that Trump was responsible for “dividing our country.”

Writing on his Facebook page on September 25, he said: “President Trump. I was told by everyone to kiss the ring because of your following and power. I refuse. While I respect your foreign policy positions, I hate how you divided the country.

“I don’t need or want your help. You do not have the ability to pull US together. You may even win the next election. But your generation’s time is running out. Tell your son to stop tweeting about me. Your whole family knows nothing about US or our sacrifices. I could never work with you.”

They have picked charges for which he can’t use the Truth about Afghanistan as a defense. Is there any section in the Military Code of Justice that allows officers to oppose clearly immoral and/or disastrous orders?

Scheller said whole more than that about Trump that that.

_____________________________________________________

Scheller said: I'd “rather sit in jail” than work with the former president.

“I was told by everyone to kiss Trumps ring because of your following and power. I refuse,” (This is BS)

“I hate how you divided the country,” “I don’t need or want your help. You do not have the ability to pull US together. You may even win the next election. But your generation’s time is running out.”

“Tell your son to stop tweeting about me,” the Marine added, referring to Don Trump Jr. “Your whole family knows nothing about US or our sacrifices.”

I have seen military whistleblowers go after other military individuals that tried to silence, abuse, or punish them and the court used was a Civilian Title III Court.

The special inspector general for Afghanistan reconstruction - “all of the reports we’ve done, no one in the government has been held accountable.”

Aren't the Marines court martialing an officer for saying exactly that?

If a special court- martial, it isn’t NJP. It is a criminal proceeding. A FG officer is judge, jury and sentencing authority. No jury, no special investigation by a third party like NCIS/CID.

He’s been found guilty already.

Not that there’s any real comparison but Bowe Bagdahl criticized his commanders and actually deserted his post….and allowed himself to be captured by the Taliban. I recall POTUS Barack Obama and VP Joe Biden inviting Bergdahl’s parents to the Rose Garden and hugging them. Then…there was Susan Rice, who on every network, referred to Bergdahl as having served with honor and distinction.
