782: 4,500 Saxons by order of Charlemagne

On an unknown date in the latter half of 782, Charlemagne did some seriously nasty business with a captured army of Saxons.

In the late 8th century, the King of the Franks was fighting a decades-long running campaign against Saxon tribes at the edge of his sprawling European empire.

One part Christianizing the pagans and two (or more) parts territorial aggrandizement, Charlemagne’s exertions on the Rhinish frontier were opposed by Widukind, or Witikind, or Widochind, whose “forest-child” name belies its owner’s legendary ferocity.

In the summer of 782, when Charlemagne perhaps thought he had whatever passed for peace among the querulous Saxons, Widukind raised a revolt and dealt the Franks a stinging defeat that put a couple of imperial legates into the ground and made some martyrs out of clerics he found in the wrong place at the time.

Charlemagne’s forces counterattacked and routed the Saxons at the Battle of Suntel (or Sonnethal) Mountain, and thereupon....

That has to happen before there will ever be an Islamic Enlightenment.

Will never happen because Islam is a fake religion worshiping a non-existent fake god.

Judeo-Christian values are not present in any form in that horrible system.

I said, "mind," not necessarily intervene.

The simplest preventative measure would be to prohibit Muslim immigration to the US. But as we can see (and has been true at least since Bush) the ruling class here has open borders pretty close to their #1 priority. Bush created a huge, bloated bureaucracy of groin gropers rather than seal the borers and get control of the Muslim problem here.

So at the moment, it's impossible to defend ourselves (or our liberty) without first removing the current political and business elite.

Where is the Islamic Reformation? That has to happen before there will ever be an Islamic Enlightenment.

"Enlightenment" is a false god which has done tremendous harm to Europe and her overseas daughters.

Muslims know this perfectly well.

I use Charlemagne as one of my 3C’s of historicity because the date is easy to remember.

C1: Was Julius CCCCaesar a Roman General who started a ccivil war against Rome?

C2: Did CCCChristophe CCCColumbus CCross the Atlantic Ocean in 1492?

C3: Was CCCCharlemagne ccrowned “Holy Roman Emperor” by the Pope on CCCChristmas day in 800 AD?

If you accccept these 3 historicity dates then you have far more than enough evidence to accccept that Jesus died cccclaiming to be God Himself — even His enemies accknowledge this.

I think the people down the hall know who you are

I always found it odd that the church burned people at the stake as a public punishment for opposing them. Ironically like what happened to Jesus.

The enlightenment lead directly to our constitution. Just read Jefferson’s writings.

The Enlightenment was not atheistic, it was about individual freedom.

So, if you to live under the divine right of kings to do anything they please, get rid of the enlightenment.

According to Wiki (I know ...) the Nazis used the massacre for propaganda, building a memorial at the sight of the battle. The narrative was that the brave Saxons were upholding Germany and German values against the evil French king.

A decade later, Goebbels decided to resurrect Charlemagne and declare him a great European king and great German king. Only a few dared point out the inconsistency.

Apparently, those people who swallow propaganda are easily turned around without them even noticing.

The Nazis rehabilitated Chuck the Great, due to his having been a sort of founder of Germany. Upon his death, Gaul was "into three parts divided", with the eastern portion going to Louis the German.

The album “The Royal Scam” is often called their “Guitar Album” based on Larry Carlton’s lead and arrangement on half the songs.

IMHO, his solo on “Don’t Take me Alive” is the pinnacle of guitar solos.

Rick Beato’s YouTube channel has a GREAT interview of Larry Carlton.

Rick Beato’s channel is one of the very best on YouTube. Also, highly recommend Michael Palmisano, who has been on with Rick in the past. Both are great teachers and commentators.

"Treaty of Verdun"

Despite having the two Imperial Cities, Lothair's middle part had poor internal communications and for the most part indefensible borders. European powers would fight over bits of it for more than 1,000 years. Quite a legacy.
