Trucker friends tell me they are hiring just about anybody with a pulse. They’re not all “knights of the road” anymore. Many still are, but it’s becoming more of a crapshoot on the interstates.
Right on!

It’s nice to know somebody’s got a plan. O.o
It would be interesting if those blockades only happened in areas controlled by the communists. Just wondering.
If the truck was parked outside of a docking bay, it would probably take me hours to back it in…
:)
Many a scary on I-81 and I-83 in PA…
Depends on what the pay is like. If the "captains of Industry" don't SET the pay-scales and let the labor market work then there would be no problem.
That is the stupidest thing I have EVER heard. F that. That is the road to Democrat single party rule forever.

In Florida, the largest supermarket chain Publix uses its own trucks. Wal-Mart uses its own trucking company to supply stores here.
They have plenty of rats to eat.
Pay more = more drivers.
But they try.
I keep a close eye on any semi I am around on the road these days.
The govt limits the amount they can make with mile limits and many quit.
There is no limit on pay. So BS.
bingo.
and home time.
All the money in the world is not worth it if you are home only 1 weekend a month.
It always amazes me the capitalist hypocrites on FR forget their free market principles as soon as the discussion turns to the cost of labor. Then they all become wage controlling fascists.

There are non profits they pay big bucks to set up the immigrants, they just give those groups direction in job placement, where they want them domiciled, etc. Non profits handle everything for them.
Easy for you to say since you don’t use truckers. There is no limit you will pay for your food?
There has been a national shortage of truckers since the end Great Recession. It has nothing to do with the amount they pay.
It primarily has to do with the fact that 50% of the people that apply can NOT PASS A DRUG TEST.
A company can not risk putting a person in a $150K tractor, pulling a $75K or more trailer with some product on/in that trailer that is on DRUGS.
The trucking industry is getting very old. To the point it is becoming a major problem.
In addition, when the federal government mandated electronic log books it made it so you could only be behind the wheel 10 hours/day. This increased all truck rates and made drivers(who are paid by the mile) have to work MORE days to make the same amount of money. Many just decided to quit.
The other issue is that Canadian trucking companies can not haul inter US. They can pick up a load in Canada and haul it to North Carolina. However, they can not take a load from NC back up to Maine or anywhere else in the US. They can only take a load back into Canada.
Always have, and I try to be considerate of them by giving them room to change lanes (often to the consternation of the speed demons on my 6).
