White House press secretary Jen Psaki Monday defended U.S. track and field star Gwen Berry's decision to turn her back on the nation's flag, saying Berry was seeking to "peacefully protest" the moments that Americans "haven’t lived up to our highest ideals."
Berry, 31, placed third over the weekend in the hammer throw during the U.S. Olympic trials, earning her a spot on the team. As the National Anthem was played, she turned from the flag.
"This weekend, Gwen Barry, who hopes to represent the United States as an Olympian on the hammer throwing events, won a bronze medal at the trials, and then she turned her back on the flag while the anthem played," Fox News' Peter Doocy said to Psaki during the daily White House briefing. "Does President Biden think that is appropriate behavior for someone who hopes to represent Team USA?"
"Well, Peter, I — I haven’t spoken to the President specifically about this, but I know he’s incredibly proud to be an American and has great respect for the Anthem and all that it represents, especially for our men and women serving in uniform all around the world," Psaki said.

Why in God’s name does the White House defend this? This is OUR country. The majority disagree with this cr**. The government is out of control. Everything goes....kill babies, men in the girls bathrooms, kill cops, burn cities...torture bakers, nuns, ordinary people if they have their own opinion.
She once threw a hammer at me from clear across the yard and nearly hit me in the head!

Maybe she would have more success competing in the hammer catch.
A person of integrity and honor with these many issues with their country would simply not choose to represent it and take up citizenship in another country.
So are the news outlets, media, corporations, academia, some high brass in the military...
Ask her to give up her citizenship. Move somewhere else... maybe move to one of the countries that has millions coming here for opportunity.
BTW has she been or is she being financially supported by the USA?
Imagine if someone turned their back on the flag to protest ‘white oppression’ or the abortion genocide.
Would the White House be so quick to defend?
What the White House does not grasp is she is not a PROFESSIONAL sports person. She is fighting to become a part of a team representing the US. If she does not wish to represent the US, fine, go throw hammers or spears somewhere else, but not try to be a member of a voluntary group.
Now she has fame and fortune. She will be hired by every POS anti US group/teach/or mentor organization in the woke US whether she wins a gold, which she will not, or any other event. Finishing third in a team qualification event is not a precursor to becoming the new Mark Spitz except some woke cereal company may put her on some box top.
This is also a wake up call for why the “olympics” should only allow amateurs. No pro people. No dream team or some such.
I used to watch the Olympics, virtually every hour it was on.
Won’t watch a minute of this. I hope the ratings are a disaster for NBC.
I used to watch some, not all. Vividly recall the 80 hockey win over the commies with a team of amateurs. (at the Royal Exchange Bar in the financial district in SF).
John Carlos and Tommie Smith were amateurs in 1968. Pros and amateurs are both equally able to participate in this nonsense.
