Not really surprising, considering the damage Biden has done.

What is “Final Demand”?

CNBC is reporting the base PPI is up 6.6% on an annual basis.

That's odd....I went to Fred and chose the PPI for manufacturers - see https://alfred.stlouisfed.org/series?seid=PCUOMFGOMFG#0 - and while the recent YoY % change is high, the same general pattern was seen in the 2008 downturn.

Of course we should be on-guard. But the backtest suggests that someone is trying to jack their freeze-dried food side gig.

Heard someone on the news say that if things were still calculated the way they were when Carter was prez, we’d be in double digit inflation. So technically, we’re in double digit inflation.

Nothing new, you have no doubt heard of the 2% target rate, why not a 0% inflation target?

Inflation could very well be the number 1 issue in 2022 and 2024. Double digit inflation will be extremely painful, and the “Trump’s Fault” excuse is pretty worn out. So, who do they blame now? Russia? China? Double down on Trump?

Well, SOME inflation IS desirable; The cash supply should increase (Or decrease) with the population.

Actually the Fed was created by Congress and its mandate is a stable currency, not one that corrodes 2% per year.

I am starting to alter my beliefs that perhaps we can have our cake and eat it too. For decades the West has overspent and over printed money with pretty much ZERO consequence to the leadership or to the people. The only unintended consequences seemed to be a roaring equity and real property market. The problem with the 70s is the people got the brunt of the pain in massively rising prices (and union wages). But today we can print with abandon - they call it monetization. Such a fancy word for essentially fraud. But a fraud we all accept. The problem may not come until we finally reach the zenith of world population and turn downwards. And by then it will be another generations’ problem.

Believe me they are going to move heaven and earth to hide it. They will hide it in the numbers like they already do. The powers that be will find a way to make it appear tightly in the 2 to 3 percent range. And frankly I think the people are dumb downed enough to buy it.
