Until the U.S. Supreme Court decided the Janus case in 2018, citizens of a number of states, including Minnesota, were essentially taxed to support local teachers’ unions. In those states, no one could legally teach in a public school without paying the union out of his or her salary–which, of course, came entirely from taxpayers. That this situation was allowed to persist for decades should have been a scandal.
Teachers’ unions, like all public sector unions, have always been pro-government and therefore liberal. But I suspect most people do not understand how partisan, and how radical, the teachers’ unions are. A few days ago, I happened to come across this 5″ by 7″ card produced by Education Minnesota. It advertises the union’s political initiative WeMakeMN.com. Click to enlarge:

I think that means you share your wealth with them. This is the back of the card:

Minnesota nice? More like Minnesota stupid.
I was a member of NEA for exactly 1 year in 1990. Then they made the mistake of sending me the national convention manifesto. I read it and agreed with nothing. They never got another penny. I found other organizations to provide lawsuit insurance.
GRRR!

They also supported Planned Parenthood through the years and the CEO of PP has recently admitted Sanger and PP were racist....Sooo,the teachers union supported the slaughter of blacks and the poor.....
Plato pointed out that those who educate children control the future. For the long term plan to turn America in a socialist nation control of the schools is the most important tool of the left.
One of the biggest cross-national tests is the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA), which every three years measures reading ability, math and science literacy and other key skills among 15-year-olds in dozens of developed and developing countries. The most recent PISA results, from 2015, placed the U.S. an unimpressive 38th out of 71 countries in math and 24th in science. Among the 35 members of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, which sponsors the PISA initiative, the U.S. ranked 30th in math and 19th in science. Along with the FBI and IRS, they are the biggest terrorist group within the United States.
Until this pandemic I thought teachers were good folks,
Now after refusing to go to school for stoopid reasons I think nothing good about public school teachers.
Catholic schools have stayed open, why have public schools refused to open?
Cause NEA is crappola.
But anyway..
My kids were HS'd..K-12..long time ago,
They are fine people....
I’ve worked in public education for 25 years and have never joined the union. I’m amazed teachers pay the monthly dues with no return on their bunk.
Yeah, I regret that one year of support.
Yeah, I regret that one year of support.
The Teachers unions own Oregon. Does that answer your question?
I was a member of NEA for exactly 1 year in 1990.
I’m in CO and unaffiliated. Depending on a lack of assets to protect me now.
“The US schools have some of the highest payed teachers in the world, and yet the results are mediocre at best..”
The reason for that is that teachers and our education system is no longer teaching, they are indoctrinating in Leftist ideology
Many of us wanted to be with our students but had to fight fearful administrators who were willing to exaggerate our fears to the school board. We had to go remote between Thanksgiving and New Years because they told our board we were soooo scared.
