For sure. The dam was built to prevent floods. Now floods might destroy the solution to floods. Amazing how the Chinese moved two million people when preparing to built the Gorges Dam.
Of course, Americans with American technology guided the building the Chinese dam. A few Americans were suspicious at the opening, since all that concrete takes a life of its own. Amazing how the side stocks drop a huge ship 300 feet to the water below the dam.

Food is a big problem for them now. Last rainy season wiped out much of the wheat and rice. Reserves are mostly wiped out do to corruption. It will be very bad even if the dam does not burst. I would say that the burst odds are at about 5% and rising. Plus they are papering over a major financial crisis. Banks are failing and worthless corporate bonds are going under. They are trying to manage the collapse.
Well, all the flotsam and debris that flows down river and across the Taiwan Strait which that finally ends up on their shore! (Beach clean up!)
They might also get a flotilla of CCP ships landing but not, I suspect, as part of a beach cleanup effort, but as a noisy distraction from the internal problems caused by a dam collapse!
Alternatively they might get to observe some regime change, but probably not a removal of CCP totalitarianism.

In 2019, when the possible failure of the dam was put out there to change the subject from dead bodies in the streets of Wuhan, there were vids showing daily status updates on the imminent disaster. I just did a video search on "three gorges dam webcam" and discovered the only "new" search result was a Snopes page. I dropped "webcam" and found nothing newer than August 2020, which included a video questioning whether the supposedly live feeds are actually just looped. Either there's really nothing new, or the Chicommanders of Google are suppressing search results.

China’s second-largest hydroelectric dam started storing water on April 6, 2021, paving the way for it to begin generating electricity in July. The Baihetan Hydropower Station is located on the Jinsha River and straddles the southwestern provinces of Yunnan and Sichuan. The electricity-generating capacity of the facility will be second only to the world’s largest dam, the Three Gorges Dam in China’s central Hubei province.
