With the number of Ohioans starting the COVID-19 vaccination process at a low point, Gov. Mike DeWine said he was concerned that those not getting inoculated are being lulled into a “false sense of security.”
“We have seen the number of vaccines go down dramatically,” DeWine said Monday.
The Ohio Department of Health reported that as of 6 a.m. Monday, only 5,564 Ohioans had at least started the vaccination process in the previous 24 hours and that 9,147 had completed it during the same time frame.
“The number is very low, the lowest we’ve seen it,” he said. “With that low number, not good. We hope to see a better number tomorrow.”
The numbers have been low for about the past three to four weeks.
The most vaccinations administered in one day in the state was 107,545 on March 31.
The state got its first doses of the vaccine Dec. 14.
DeWine said those not being vaccinated were taking a “high-risk gamble.”
He added Ohio has more vaccinations available than those wanting them.
“If you’re vaccinated, you’ve accomplished a lot for yourself and accomplished a lot for the state,” DeWine said.
“If you’re not vaccinated, you remain high risk,” he said.
There were 4,720,786 people, 40.39 percent of the state’s population, who had at least started getting inoculated as of 6 a.m. Monday, according to the ODH.....

DeWine is a statist idiot. In Ohio yesterday there were 995 new cases of covid. The population of Ohio is about 11M.
I’d like to believe there is a special place in hell for DeWine.

You probably have more vaccinated than they are counting.
You do not need to vaccinate everyone to achieve herd immunity.
By all accounts we already achieved her immunity. You have a lot of people that have a natural immunity. A good percentage of folks that were infected in the year prior to the vaccine. Realize, despite all the hype, ~85% have mild symptoms and many folks had it and do not even know. The numbers of new infections were already beginning to dip before the vaccine, i.e. it was already ending.
You will have some residual infections here or there and you see that with many other diseases, but it’s not a threat to society.
So now we want to do what? Vaccination passports, mandatory vaccines laws, limit basic freedoms of those not playing along? We all knew that shit was coming. Like 9-11 gave us the TSA, Patriot Act and other idiotic ideas, Covid will also live on forever with some government program costing the tax payer, violating basic rights, making some private corporation billions and growing government... all in the name of “public safety.”
Case counts become less meaningful as vaccinations rise. Even if a person has symptoms, the fact they were vaccinated will likely persuade them not to get tested. If they don’t get tested, they can’t get a positive result and so case count will fall. It would fall if there were nothing but placebo going into arms because that person will think he is bulletproof and likely not get a test even with symptoms.
Only death counts matter, and really, only Excess Death counts of all causes matter. Those have fallen to multi year norms right now, just as they did last year heading into early July, when they trended up again.
The current decline need not be vaccination caused. The same decline last year clearly was not vaccination caused. Last year was about 76% decline and this year about 78%. No signif diff.
Call it by the true name- "Public Slavery".
So, maybe I ain’t getting the new math, but, if there have been over 260 million doses administered but we have allegedly YUGE number of folks not wanting the shot, how have there been so many given? Does each shot count of is it the two shot numbers they’re talking? When will they pressure more businesses into demanding proof of vaccine in order to be served? As a suggestion of course. Or the health inspector may find some mice or roaches or whatever.........

What is sad is that “so-called” conservatives are just as much at fault for this as liberals.
Put a Republican in charge, and you get a DHS, TSA, Patriot Act... Or you had his dad George H. give the green light for mass surveillance because basically the government argued that anything digital is in the public sphere (no differently than if you scream it aloud at a ball park).
The only difference between modern liberals and conservatives is what corporations profit when they are in charge, and what arguments they use to grow government. For liberals its social justice, equality, the environment. For conservatives it’s national security, public safety, etc. Both are equally willing to side step the US Constitution and Bill of Rights for what they see as their just cause.
What Covid taught me, is that America is beyond lost. Think about it, some government bureaucrat gets on TV and makes some half baked statements but uses the world “science” while wearing a white lab coat and all the churches/schools/restaurants/gyms/pools/beaches get closed, and no there is little push back! Not even the atheist communist Soviets dared to order churches close their doors! American’s are completely compliant. You see this at an airport with warrantless searches where they take off their shoes, empty their bags and walk through a body scanner, without a warrant! No probable cause, nothing... and there is no complaint or concern.

If it was really “high risk”, I would have been sick or dead by now. I have a higher risk of getting hit by a car walking across the street than from COVID, so should I just never cross the street?
The vaccine is a high risk gamble since the covid is a low risk gamble
