I don’t know that they ever stopped. I do know that I read that they would no longer show videos that taught one how to build “ghost guns”, uppers and lowers, or any videos that instructed shooters.

Just think of all the Jerry Miculek and other fun stuff.

The fact that they changed their mind does not change mine. The original statement showed me how they think and I will go my own way.

I had never heard of that round so I googled it and the first hit said emphatically that the round was for machine guns only.

That would be warning enough.

If the round was too stout for military rifles of that vintage, heavy as they were.....

No, that was prior to the explosion.

changed to where it was explosive vs fast burning,

Your getting close.... My theory is that some unscrupulous, or perhaps ignorant, reseller had some mil-surp SLAP rounds that were somewhat corroded, and he tumbled or vibratory finished them to polish them up for re-sale. Tumbleing or vibratory finishing can and will pulverize the gunpowder within a loaded cartridge causing it to burn much faster / detonate.

Never tumble / vibratory finish loaded ammo.

Thank you for that thought. I would have never considered doing that with finished round but such would certainly explain a fast detonation. It goes beyond what one would typically call a hot round.

My theory would have been that the cartridge length was over spec and pinched the bullet at the throat. That would cause overpressure. But in watching the video, the cartridge went in easy enough, so unless his screwing on the cap drive it to wedge at the throat, your theory seems more plausible.

He has a ton of videos out. For the most part he takes precautions. From now on he will likely take more.

He’s rough on folding tables.

Basically too much powder for the bullet weight or just too much powder.

His previous SLAP rounds were wonky so it could have been incorrectly reloaded or the powder degraded.

Rex of Tiborsaurus Rex, a very knowledgeable shooter with a Youtube channel, theorized that it could have been caused by the muzzle brake.

It's cautioned not to shoot SLAP rounds in a rifle with a muzzle brake or at least a specially designed brake.

A layer of plastic from the sabot is deposited at the beginning of the brake which will then retard the travel of asubsequent round enough to cause overpressure.

May never know.

Good thing his Dad was there, filming or he probably wouldn't have made it.

Always need to have a good first aid kit; including tourniquets, Quikclot combat gauze, forceps, packing gauze...

No way. While I appreciate him calling out a disruptor who can't just answer a question straight up, and who thinks he is cute by referencing a posted article we won't read, he could at least spell his name in the FR orthodox manner - "Seriesly." Orthography is important and we have police here watching if you step over the lines.
