Some folks here on Free Republic appear to be heavily into wanting to "make us barf" for some odd reason.
This is evidenced by the multitude of articles posted here that have "BARF" or "BARF ALERT" in parentheses after the title.
Apparently the poster is still perusing mainstream media sites - mainstream media that skews heavily to the Left and has an agenda to tag all patriotic conservatives as racists and insurrectionists who should be herded onto cattle cars and hauled off to re-education camps like they did in days of Stalin and Hitler.
So typically the poster comes across a particularly obnoxious article on one of these mainstream media sites that either contains totally fake news or perhaps an attack on our values and beliefs. The poster knows full well that it will only anger and inflame the rest of us here, who mostly are doing our very best to avoid that kind of stuff. However they have decided to bring it over here and subject us to it just the same.
By putting the "Barf Alert" at the end of the subject title, they apparently wish to insulate themselves, to proclaim to us that despite the fact that the article they are posting is going to make us want to projectile hurl our breakfast into the nearest toilet, that their motives are pure and that they just want to "keep us informed" on what the other side is saying.
Well you aren't doing us any favors!
We already know that the other side hates us. We already know that mainstream media is controlled by Leftists and that they are in cahoots with the establishment elite to help rig elections, sway opinions, destroy family values, erode the middle class and drag America into a socialist hell-hole in which they (the elite) will gain additional wealth and power over the rest of us.
So whenever we drag that kind of content over here, we are only helping the other side. We are validating them (as sources of news) and helping to give them power over us. The typical replies to these sort of threads is similarly depressing and chock full of "all is lost" and "system is rigged against us and there's no hope" and "I'm stockpiling bullets and canned sardines for the civil war that is sure to come."
Instead of ignoring them and taking positive action like building out our own platforms, our own media and organizing (like the Left does), we end up gnashing our teeth at all the things the "other side" is saying and wallowing in the negativity.
Speaking for myself, I don't come to Free Republic to get bummed out or to "barf" or to wallow in "all is lost" negativity.
I cut my cable years ago (and give some of the money I'm saving on it to Free Republic each month). I removed mainstream media from my life. And I'm much better for it. I'm a more positive person. I've kept my sense of humor (bizarre as it can be), and I'm physically and emotionally very healthy because I keep all that negativity out of my life.
I guess the only redeeming thing about "Barf Alerts" here is that it helps identifies the threads that are best avoided for my overall mental health (and to keep the nutritious food I just ate inside my body).
Yes, if someone who posts an article disagrees with any part of it or its whole, he should make his case in the first post rather than lazily tag it in the title.
Please keep alerting us to obnoxious articles with barf alerts, and please keep posting them so we know what the enemy is doing.
I hear you....but going there feels like you’re going to catch some disease. I can’t take the shear insanity...
You... read the articles?!
That’s not how FReeps work.
That’s not how any of this works!
Sorry you’re depressed about the news.
The truth is out there somewhere. Some people like to read the news and be informed.
YMMV.
Cheers!
I understand that! I like going there when they have lost a battle for something and watching the splody heads and gnashing of teeth. I still feel the need for a shower afterwards.
I think it’s a great practice. It brings me up to speed and I don’t have to visit the barfworthy website.
Because its always good to know what the enemy is sayng or doing?
Because they are not demoralizing they are Laughable!-)
Barf alerts were actually started by the mods, posting the comment after the original article was posted.
No. It’s a warning. I like it. Keep it up, Freepers!
Trolls
A label of ‘Enemy narrative alert” would be more effective.
It takes maybe 2- 5 seconds to read the narrative and go on.
The difficult part is you can’t talk about it at the water cooler at work anymore, without having to visit HR for reprogramming.
(firing)
The problem is way past barfing and being upset.
It’s way past being pissed at the FReeper who simply posts it.
We need to put down the propagandists....by whatever means necessary.
IMO.
Ahh, but not being apprised of what your enemies are muttering about is a good way to get bit in the butt. I generally avoid the BARF alert posts after reading the summary. Usually, it is about something I’ve already heard about — and don’t wanna barf again. So, I encourage their continuance.
Personally, I think it is important to know what is being said/published by other media sites or channels. Even if it is objectionable, so as to be nauseating, I still think it is a good idea that we are aware of what is being said. JMHO
Because it’s good to know the enemy.
Over at the Donald dad when they had some interesting titles for these types of Bara’s spirits and laughter article posters

Propaganda and gas-lightning are not forms of “news”.
Kaslin is guilty of this all the time. He loves posting demoralizing anti Trump sh!t.
I understand the “know thy enemy” idea.
I also understand clicks and website ratings and how google uses web statistics to (a) push things up higher on the lists from their search results, (b) push ad revenue accordingly, (c) help reward the altogether Left media to sell it as more popular to the sheeple - so I don’t post “barf” alerts. In my view it only increases the web recognition of crap I don’t support.
