Police just released bodycam footage of the Daunte Wright shooting. The cop thought she was firing her Taser, not her gun.

Police have released bodycam footage of the shooting of Daunte Wright -- AKA the young man who was killed by police and who protesters are currently using the latest excuse to riot and loot.

The officer thought she had pulled her Taser. Not her gun. She thought she was tasing him, not shooting him. Watch for yourself [Warning: Graphic]:

WARNING GRAPHIC

Brooklyn Center, MN police release bodycam footage of the moments leading to the fatal shooting of 20-year-old Daunte Wright pic.twitter.com/Ig9CKQaBN0— Daily Caller (@DailyCaller) April 12, 2021

She clearly yelled "I'll tase you!" and "Taser! Taser! Taser!" and was clearly shocked when she realized she just shot the guy.

“God forbid he followed the directions of the police officers and did not try to flee.”

Sarcasm noted and approved. Every one of these incidents starts the same way. Idiotic resisting of arrest with no win possible. That fool was about to lead a chase possibly ending in a wreck and killing innocents. He wasn’t going to get away.

A stupid criminal causing incredibly bad trouble.

That was a 74 year old Reserve Deputy Sheriff that killed that suspect in Tulsa County, Oklahoma. He was working on a drug sting. He should have never been a reserve deputy, and certainly should not have been working a drug sting. It’s one thing if they want to have such a reserve working traffic for a ball game or a parade, but not a major drug sting.

No riots but the Somali cop got convicted of 3rd degree murder and manslaughter.

That, or not enough such training. Either due to lack of training or ability, it’s hard to deny that she was unfit for duty as an armed law enforcement officer. Proper training should have either prepared her sufficiently or weeded her out before she was turned loose on the public. That would certainly be my argument if I was representing the guy’s family in a 1983 suit against the city.

Might be nice if they redesigned the Taser so it didn’t operate like a firearm.

How about trading it in for a nightstick?

Thanks for the additional info. I watched the vid when it came out. Sounds like a lack of qualified personnel is the root of the problem.

You can beat the rap but you can't beat the ride.

Does anybody have a picture of the PD issue taser?

IF it feels like a gun that would perhaps represent a safety issue.

What amount of training and proficiency is conducted on a regular basis?

That there will be an inquiry and report is no doubt. Those types of questions are going to be asked.

This is terrible all the way around, but honestly confusing ones gun for a tazer should never happen. For one the tazer is kept on the left if one is right handed and the tazer feels different and weighs less.

I believe she made a mistake under stress and I know it has happened before but it just should not happen. I hate to say it but this is what happens when people are hired based off things like gender. Not saying that women can’t make good officers just that women are hired a lot of times just to have women on the force regardless of whether or not they have what it takes.

I find this quite insane.

Every step of the traffic stop that lead to Mr. Wright's death was done carelessly and in the case of the officer that shot Mr. Wright recklessly, or without any normal level of self control and perception.

It really isn't a defense to say you thought you were firing a taser when you have a gun in hour hand. That's no more reasonable than saying I thought I was holding bear spray, not my Glock.

But every officer present contributed to the tragedy. The officer attempting to cuff Mr. Wright should have at least closed the car door and moved Wright away from the door, or blocked it with his or Wright's body. It is never good to let the arrestee back into his car.

As soon as Wright was out of the car the second officer should have moved to help the first officer. Standing where he was he was unable to do anything. He was lucky he didn't backstop the 9mm round from the third officer.

The third officer distracted the first officer as he was trying to cuff Mr. Wright. Another mistake.

The citizens of that city deserve a new mayor and somebody who can restructure their police department to have adequately trained personnel.

She is a example of recent hiring of the only persons left that want to be police.

No person, now in their right mind wants to be a police officer

When thousands of officers have left departments soon, every day on the streets will be the PURGE.

No, But my point was that she wasn’t a recent affirmative action hire.

A cop on duty should never face consequences greater than loosing their job, IMHO. Same with military.

You sound like a fan of John Connolly and guys like him. Why should a cop, or an FBI agent face consequences greater than losing his job if all he does is find and set up people for murder by mob enforcers. Isn't that what law enforcement officers are supposed to do?

“A grand jury will indict the police officer.”

Negligent homocide?

Yeah, probably. And the DA likely to get a conviction.

"It’s going to be another long year. The White left elites are loving every moment of this! Now they have another police shooting to rile up their troops for another round of mayhem across America!"

Indeed. It was already shaping up to be a bad year with the Chauvin trial (regardless of the verdict) coupled with the hundreds of thousands of foreign nationals pouring over our border subverting our laws and sovereignty.

This will add fuel to the fire that there is "systemic racism" in the country and it's especially bad within law enforcement.
