The Taal Volcano is preparing its next big eruption, said the state-run Philippine Institute for Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) on Wednesday.
Within the last 24 hours, the volcano in Batangas province registered 212 quakes, including 168 tremors with durations one to 20 minutes, and 44 low frequency volcanic earthquakes were recorded.
The volcanic peak also emitted more gas over the past 24 hours – some 1,229 tons of sulfur dioxide.
These are signs of a looming eruption:
“The fact that we have volcanic tremors and prolonged background tremor recorded, higher than normal sulfur dioxide emission rate of 923 tons per day, slow but steady inflation of the volcano still indicates magmatic activity at shallow depth beneath the volcano.”
The volcano is under Alert Level 2. Meanwhile, Phivolcs also said civil aviation authorities must advise pilots to avoid flying close to the volcano as airborne ash and ballistic fragments from sudden explosions and wind-remobilized ash may pose hazards to aircraft.
Beginning of 2020, the Taal volcano erupted violently covering everything with ash:

The next Taal volcanic eruption is closing up. Hopefully, that explosion will not be as bad as that in 2020…
Foreboding.
Fascinating, yet eerie picture

I don’t know where I’m a gonna go when the volcano blows.
Sounds like you could replace the name of Taal with mine after a trip to Taco Bell.
But volcanic gases like sulfur dioxide can cause global cooling, while volcanic carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas, has the potential to promote global warming.
I see an evil face with slightly bared teeth, in profile, on the right side of the column.
I saw the Taal volcano, some years ago, from Tagaytay. It’s weird, because it’s in the middle of a lake. We wanted to horseback ride down to the waters edge, but they told us the volcano was rumbling, and it wasn’t safe to do so.
212 earthquakes hit and release large quantities of gas
1,229 tons of sulfur dioxide emitted past 24 hours.
Normal SO2 emission rate is 923 tons per day.
Now how can they possibly know that? It’s not like there’s a mass flow meter on the volcano.
That is one awesome photograph!
That one has a history of erupting from anywhere of a VEI 1 to VEI 6.
One must consider the history of these things.
I’ve had regular days like that since my pancreas surgery. The other day I set gas level records in my state not seen since Mt. Helena, Yellowstone and the Tunguska Asteroid explosion of 1910, combined.
The Reichter Scale people are suing me for knocking all their instruments out of commission.
At least all the bugs in the neighbor are dead. Perhaps a few neighbors too. If so, hope they were Democrats. That will teach them about climate change and global warming!!!
Perhaps it was eating some organic baked beans (just molasses and sugar) didn’t help.
My bad!
I see the Ice man carrying a bunch of furs on his back.
Stay safe bro!
Lots of earthquakes, volcanoes, typhoons in your neighborhood it seems.
It doesn't look all that taal.
