6,000-Year-Old Skeletons Found Locked in Embrace Near Greek Cave
ROME â They died young and, by the looks of it, in love.
Two skeletons of the age of 6,000 found locked in an embrace near the city of Shakespeare set the star-crossed tale âRomeo and Julietâ have sparked theories the remains of a far more ancient love story have been found.
Archaeologists unearthed the skeletons dating back to the late Neolithic period outside Mantua, 25 miles south of Verona, the city of Shakespeareâs story of doomed love.
Buried between 5,000 and 6,000 years ago, the prehistoric pair are believed to have been a man and a woman and are thought to have died young, because their teeth were found intact, said Elena Menotti, the archaeologist who led the dig.

“Because their teeth were found intact” I guess you knocked Grandpa’s teeth out in those days. “Grandpa....you think it’s funny for me to pull your finger so you can blast one? Here’s a nice punch to thank you.” Of course, it could have been like in the Old West, where at the stagecoach stops they'd pass around a community toothbrush - for those who wished to freshen up after the meal.

thought to have died young, because their teeth were found intact This is weird to me. In a time before access to sweets lots of old people had all their teeth unless they were knocked out in some sort of traumatic event. Perhaps they mean that they were not worn down from years of biting and chewing.

Hey Larry,
You’ve got one person on your “1 of x” ping list twice.
rustyweiss74; TPIDerek; TPIDerek.
I’m going to suggest a “2 of x” ping list for TPIDerek.
