VIDEO: Smoked Maple Syrup Corned Beef Reuben Sandwich

VIDEO

In a previous video, I showed you how to smoke a maple syrup corned beef (link below). In this video, I take that incredibly delicious smoked maple corned beef and make a delicious Reuben sandwich. Since most of you, like me (at least for now), probably don't have a Panini press, I show you how to make it without the aid of that press. One important thing I learned was don't put your sandwich back on the plate on which you placed the sliced corned beef without wiping it dry first in order to avoid sandwich soginess. The second sandwich I made after the one in the video was dryer and it is the sandwich you see in the thumbnail and at the beginning of this video. Oh, and on the second sandwich I put half of it in the refrigerator and this morning I found out that a Reuben sandwich is just as delicious when eaten cold.

Yeah, I'm definitely feeling a Panini press in my near future.

Goodness gracious. I don't think 7 more beautiful words have ever been strung together.

I mean, outside The Bible, of course.

The SMOKED MAPLE SYRUP is what makes the difference. When I ate a Reuben’s sandwich at a chain deli, it was horrible precisely because the corned beef tasted, well, artificial.

I would like to try that Smoked Maple Syrup on a few slices of spiral ham. Corned Beef has always been far too salty for me to enjoy.

The caramelized maple syrup works as a nice counter to the salt of the corned beef. Like Ying and Yang.

I could have delivered a sack of these Smoked Maple Syrup Corned Beef Reuben Sandwiches to you when you were at Ft. Meyers Beach if I had known you were there.

No. Different cuts of the beef.

Oh really? Hmm. I may have to conduct a few ‘experiments’ based on that theory.

"My favorite part of this whole process: eating."

My least favorite part: cleaning up. So don't tell me how to make it, just tell me how much it costs.

Sauerkraut is a delicious condiment that can be successfully added to almost anything!

Taco Tuesday a staple at your house?

Put some sauerkraut on that taco and turn it into a pleasing medley of flavors!

Are you using your Grandmas recipe for spaghetti sauce?

Add some sauerkraut to put a little pizazz in that pasta!

Sauerkraut.....”Hey! Throw some of that on everything!”

I bookmarked his other corned beef maple recipe. I was thinking of putting the leftover maple syrup in with a syringe. Douche the insides.

Use two cast iron skillets instead...beats having to spend money on and then store an appliance around that only does one thing once in a blue.

Damn this Keto Diet!

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

There are Keto substitutes for bread that are quite ‘passable’. You’re ok on pretty much everything else - kraut is fermented so that’s good for the gut microbiome. Cheese is ok if you can tolerate it. I’d use regular corned beef (no maple/sugar - you can get maple flavoring that might work). For sauce, I made homemade low carb Thousand Island dressing the other day & it was delicious!! The only downside was you need mayo & ketchup - I made my own avocado mayo & suger-free ketchup before I could do the dressing, but it was worth it. If you want recipe links, let me know.

Also, there are some very good Keto Reuben casseroles where you can get the flavor of a Reuben without the carbs. :-)

Note: I’m 65-70 lbs down doing Keto & now mostly carnivore. It’s worth giving up a few things (you can find low carb substitutes for ‘almost’ everything) for the return to good health/great quality of life. :-)

I strongly encourage you to not shoot yourself up with maple syrup.

Too many Canadians are Syrup Junkies and that’s how they got Trudeau as their leader.

Maple syrup might be too think to inundate the insides.

Too thick. The maple syrup might be too THICK to inundate the interior of a corned beef
