Will We Ever Escape the Circle of Fear?
Ricochet ^ | March 3, 2021 | Susan Quinn

Posted on 03/06/2021 4:02:23 PM PST by CheshireTheCat

....I live in a 55+ community; during the past month residents who are 65+ years of age were able to get the Covid-19 vaccine, both doses...I was hopeful that this step would resolve the fears of many, but I know of three women who are still wearing masks, restricting their interactions with others, and staying home as much as possible....

There are two systems that can determine our response to Covid-19: the amygdala and the pre-frontal lobes. Dr. Joseph LeDoux, a leading authority on neuroscience and fear, made the following observations:

‘The amygdala is not a fear centre,’ LeDoux said. ‘It’s a system in the brain that detects and responds to danger. But fear is our awareness that we’re in danger.’

...The way we respond to the fear is determined by the pre-frontal lobes. The frontal lobes receive the fear message and try to deal with it rationally:

When the threat is mild or moderate, the frontal lobes override the amygdala, and you respond in the most rational, appropriate way. However, when the threat is strong, the amygdala acts quickly. It may overpower the frontal lobes, automatically triggering the fight-or-flight response....

There is no consensus over whether the amygdala responds in the same way if a person experiences a similar stimulus over and over again. For example, when a person is continually dealing with reminders of the virus, especially seeing others wearing masks or repeatedly having to don a mask, I wonder if the amygdala sees the mask as a danger and causes a reaction of fear. Or when a person sees Dr. Fauci, or someone from the CDC, or other “experts” on Covid-19, is it possible that people are continually being charged with fear, and therefore reluctant to “use their pre-frontal lobes”...

I do think many people's brains have been "short circuited" by irrational fear.

“There are two systems that can determine our response to Covid-19”

the third covid response system is known as the knowledge, wisdom, intelligence, and common-sense system, otherwise known as the KWIC system ...

What part of the brain makes me want to punch Fauci whenever I see his image or read his latest nonsense? Whatever that part is, it’s working really well. Responds instantly.

-- I do think many people's brains have been "short circuited" by irrational fear. --

This is the normal human condition.

Our days (particularly in the US the past 150 years) have been remarkably peaceful from a historical perspective. We have little clue about how wild and woolly the world really is.

Governments trade in fear. It is the most powerful tool they have, and they know how to use it.

At any rate, CS Lewis provides or repeats a prescription for fear, in "Living in the Atomic Age." Get on with your life. Fear is anti-productive.

I have been surprised at the people are very afraid. But I didn’t like them much to start.

COVID is real. I know people who died from it. I know others who had it and it sucked.

So, you protect the vulnerable. Get vaccinated if you want. Wear a mask, if you want. But don’t shut down the world for something with less chance of killing you than a ride to the store.

“I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.”

Cute Young Children Burn Face Masks Outside Idaho State Capitol While Shouting ‘Destroy Them!’

GP ^ | March 6, 2021 at 3:30pm | By Cassandra Fairbanks
Posted on 3/6/2021, 2:09:57 PM by Hojczyk

The kids were filmed tossing masks into a fire while shouting “destroy them!”

Several hundred people attended the mask burning protest on the Capitol steps.

The kids were all smiles as they gleefully tossed the masks into the barrel to burn

Children and teens have likely been the hardest hit psychologically by the pandemic and subsequent mask mandates, lockdowns and school shut downs.

Child psychiatrists have been warning of increased suicide risk among youths during these awful times. NPR reports that along with a spike in suicide, “many suicidal children have been showing up in hospital emergency departments, and more kids are needing in-patient care after serious suicide attempts.”

Most children, who contract COVID have very mild symptoms — leaving many worried that the prevention may be worse for this generation’s kids than the virus itself.

We go out and eat at local family owned Restaurants every week. We have neighbors and relatives who have not been out of their houses for a year. They are trembling with fear in their basements.

One neighbor only orders groceries on line and makes the delivery guy leave the bags at the curb. I called him and told him whoever bagged the groceries might have Covid! He hung up on me...

Hypothalamic I think.

You see him as a threat and respond with aggression.

But it as been over two decades since I took that class so I could be wrong.

Re “Will we ever escape...”
Yup. Easy.
Step 1: Stop being afraid.
Step 2: Tell the Karen’s to GFthemselves once a day.
Step 3: Repeat steps 1 and 2.

See? Feel better already.

A friend's husband not only does the same but he leaves the groceries in the garage - along with the mail - for up to a week after he has doused everything with alcohol spray before allowing them into the house.

Exactly right.

It seems millions of Americans do not operate within the KWIC system due really poor schooling, lack of educational interests, not feeling independent of others who want to control them...the list could go on. Mostly is lack of science background or lack of interest in finding out what is accurate and true in all aspects of living and deciding what to do in the event this or that occurs.

I would bet there are not enough Americans to successfully succeed at secession either for exactly the same reasons.

Perfect reply!! Perfect. I despise him for his lies, prevarications, ignorance of science and medicine, and retreating from his own opinions for a more convenient stance. Frankly he should be fired and be in disgrace. But, no, I suspect the truly stupid political party imposing so much of this s...t on us is in the same category as Fauci and will assign him to a more important job within their so-called “administration” that is intent on destroying the Constitutional Republic.

I think the larger problem is most people are not willing to accept death. They have not prepared or thought about their eventual death. 100 years ago people were more accepting of the reality of death and were better prepared.

It’s information overload.
People who watch local and network news every day get a continuous dosage of doom and gloom.
It will grind down almost anyone.

leaving many worried that the prevention may be worse for this generation’s kids than the virus itself.

may be worse??? For virtually all young people the prevention has definitely been worse than the virus itself as the virus has almost no chance of making them sicker than a cold, if they have any symptoms at all.

Fear is the opposite of faith. Faith does not mean a pie in the sky belief in unicorns and utopia. It means trusting that people taking voluntary precautions when there is danger will allow things to work out. Of course this would have been better if our politicians and media and medical “experts” had given us a very specific data on the comorbidities of those getting sick, how the PCR test is being done etc. Instead they just said .... trust Fauci he will keep you safe.... and. ..... trust Biden he wears a mask. He will keep you safe. Such baloney.

Democrats are the party of fear. Republicans are the party of faith.
