Booger hook on bang switch operator error most likely.

Another goofily written article by Peter what's-his-name!
1. Misfire = failure to go off
2. Accidental Discharge = weapon goes off when it isn't supposed to.
Sheesh.

There is no such thing as a .450 S&W. Must have meant the S&W .40.
To: technically right
It’s a secret calibre only available in Canada.

Shoulda never cashiered the 1911. It’s what I carried. And, personally own two now. Keep one of them in my truck console 24/7.

“The gun was mishandled.”
Correct.
Nothing wrong with the gun, but some homo is saying “I didn’t touch the trigger, I SWEAR!”

It is a known problem with striker fired pistols that have rounds in chamber to go off when improperly drawn from the holster.

Here is Sig Sauers' statement on the issue.
They were unable to replicate the incident with the firearm involved and summarized as follows:
The SIG SAUER P320 is among the most rigorously vetted pistols in the market. The P320 meets and exceeds all US safety standards and global military and law enforcement protocols .....
What caused the malfunction? That’s still up in the air, but the actual pistol doesn’t seem to be the culprit. That leaves poor holster choice or operator error. SIG SAUER Statement on CANSOFCOM Incident

The early production P320 has no trigger safety as found on most striker fired pistols. If there is a round in the chamber and the striker is cocked, the pistol will discharge if dropped such that it lands on the back of the slide. There is enough mass in the trigger assembly to "pull" the trigger on the abrupt stop. There are Youtube videos demonstrating it.
I have one of those early P320s upgraded with a flat face Apex trigger. I called Apex directly and they confirmed the flat model did not have sufficient mass to replicate the discharge on drop. The stock factory trigger and the round faced Apex replacement were both sufficiently heavy to cause the discharge on drop. That said, I kept mine.

A .450 Bushmaster in a handgun would be spectacular to say the least. I have a 450 upper on a Bushmaster M4 lower that I use for deer hunting. Quite effective out to about 250 yds. Makes big holes.

the handgun went off inexplicably I hate it when that happens...
