Texas has 0 deficit and NY has reported 83 billion deficit.
So that is interesting to the discussion.
1/50th?
Awesome.
None I suspect.
Fed.gov has the printing press and the intaglio plates for the Federal Reserve notes we call money, so they can do it.
Move to Texas. I have a plce a waitin’ for me! Helotes!
I’ve read that, if a country dissolves, one thing that would be considered is the amount of spending that took place for the parts seceding.
How much of the federal spending fell on Texas? If none, Texas could be free and clear of all obligations.
The answer - of course - is none.
Then I heard another voice from heaven say: “Come out of her, My people, so that you will not share in her sins or contract any of her plagues. 5For her sins are piled up to heaven, and God has remembered her iniquities.
IMO, a wise move for Texans!
Zero.
(Let's get the humans out of the vote-counting business.)
“What portion of our $30 trillion in debt would they take?”
And, how many of the nuclear weapons do they get? And what percentage of the navy and air force assets do they get?
I believe this is the annexation treaty.
“ARTICLE I.
The Republic of Texas, acting in conformity with the wishes of the people and every department of its government, cedes to the United States all its territories, to be held by them in full property and sovereignty”
I don’t think Texas can exit the Union of its own accord.
“ARTICLE II.
The citizens of Texas shall be incorporated into the Union of the United States, maintained and protected in the free enjoyment of their liberty and property”
Texans might have the right to be free from direct federal taxation.
A Trade. DC in. Texas out.
As if the rest of the country will ever pay their share of the debt off.
How many functioning tanks are the feds willing to leave at Fort Hood? Anti-aircraft missiles at Fort Bliss?
I will propose a fair compromise - the Yankees keep El Paso and Hudspeth counties. That's about half as big as Belgium. Or throw in Culberson County - that would get you up to 9400 square miles, to Belgium's 11,849. Seems like a fair settlement to me.
Whatever their fair share was -after- a reasonable deduction for the expenses that a tyrannical DC caused Texas to incur in order to secure basic human liberty.
I’m pretty sure the feds will end up owing Texas, a lot.
Where will all the Democrats go ? LOL
So that means we loose Texas’ 38 electoral votes?
