Senate Democrat leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) on Friday evening announced the impeachment trial for Trump will begin the week of February 8th.

The swamp knows that Trump won the 2020 election and still has a solid base of tens of millions of supporters so they are working to bar Trump from ever running for office.
The House voted 232-197 to impeach Trump last week – 10 Republican traitors joined the Democrats and voted in favor of impeachment.
Speaker Pelosi will send the articles of impeachment to the senate on Monday.
Pelosi and the Democrats have accused Trump of “inciting an insurrection”

According to reports, McConnell privately says he wants Trump gone – the DC elites are pressuring Republicans to impeach private citizen Trump.

Schumer is a parasite with no marketable skills.
That describes a typical elite democrat in congress or as a governor in a blue state.
What about Biden’s 100 days? Surprised that he would risk getting his agenda get sidetracked.
There is of course the view that the duties of a presiding official created under the Constitution is empty and ceremonial, it being the nature of our founding fathers to waste their time endlessly creating ceremonial positions that have no power or authority.
First, I think the rules for congressman are considerably looser than they are for a president. Second, I have only heard talk about an impeached president not being able to run again...I haven’t actually seen the language to that effect.

When McConnell says he wants Trump gone, what he means politically neutered. If 67 Senators vote to convict, then just 51 are required to vote to forbid Trump from ever holding office again. That is the goal.
Will they get an extra 16 Republicans to vote to convict? I read where the 10 Republicans who voted to impeach in the House collectively received 170 million dollars in donations. That’s seventeen million for each yes vote in the House. Call it 20 million to buy off each Senator. but, many of them might be bought with a promise of a bridge or airport named after them. Are they that crass? Uhm...probably. Now, at least four “Republicans” would do it for nothing. So, we’re down to 12.
Having said that, I wonder if the Democrats have thought this through. Firstly, they are giving Trump a stage and he’s a showman. He may wipe the floor with them. Also, this is going to tie up the Biden administration, both by stealing the limelight and by preventing the Senate from taking up legislation. I also believe the political elites have misread the electorate. By doing this, they may create an unbeatable monster who will eat them all alive in the next two election cycles.

I believe that the best defense is that it is unconstitutional to impeach a private citizen! No need to get into “the rigged election”, which all too many dismiss as a “conspiracy theory”. And that’s exactly what the Dims intend to use to get Trump impeached and barred from running for Federal office!
I do hope, however, that undeniable proof of the rigged election comes out over the course of 2021, leaving the new administration with egg on its face!!!!

The Senate can make its own trial rules and unfairly prohibit Trump from presenting evidence he wants to present. The media will cover for them. In 1999 the Senate prevented the House Impeachment Managers from presenting their full case against Clinton.

How is it relevant to the charge that he incited a riot.

What about a defense that shows there is insignificant evidence that he incited the riot, and there is stronger evidence that others including some politicians facilitated the riot (actually non-riot)?
